You'd think he was Lahm by some of the posts you see here.
I don’t see that at all. He’s rightly being praised for a brilliant performance today and very good season overall. Trying to downplay that is a much weirder line of thought.

Looking over my shoulder.
He was amazing today. Easily our best player. As I said in the match day thread, he’s possibly the only player in our team that possesses both the technical and athletic capabilities. Our other players either lack one or the other.
Garnacho has both. Shaw has both when not injured. Otherwise, I tend to agree with you. Sadly. Maybe Varane? Not as clumsy as his unagainly style would make your eyes believe.

Only recently 25. He's developed into a very intelligent player and IMO is probably the only player who benefitted from having Ronaldo at the club. He's grown immeasurably since then. Obvious to see now why Madrid were after him a few years ago

I thought he was alright today. A couple of good moments but overall nothing really new here. I think, he has been one of the best of our players this season. Issue is that this doesn't really mean much (as it used to before) because the season was as shit as it gets. Lets hope he continues this trajectory and maybe he can even jump up when the whole team settles. When it does. Eventually.

He was alright. MEN gave him a 6, Maguire was better. Hyperbole like the bolded is why some are baffled. Not difficult to understand.

Ah yes, MEN, experts in all things football. If you actually watched the game you'd know Maguire was not better than him.

Garnacho is not as technical and absolutely nowhere near as physical, he actually has a lot of growing to do which is exciting.

Superb player able to step into midfield very capably and cover either flank as full back. Is perma-fit too. He would cost a fortune to buy.

Nice bit where he controlled that high ball coming down on the turn and broke past Diaz all in one motion.

Keep a clean shit tomorrow, United is my final bus
Dalot is our best player, I'm saying it. Not in terms of talent but he's consistent, he's solid enough in defence, he's good going forward, technically sound, fights for everything.

And, funnily enough, having to pay him was given as one of the early excuses for why Ten Hag hasn't been able to get us playing good football. Player of the season for me, by a country mile.

beautiful piece of play albeit a bit risky from a full back. was genuinely expecting this to fail, so thankfully this was not the case. While not a hater I'm a united fan so only wish for him to keep improving but for me he is not the answer to our RB problem. he is definitely playing to his strengths and is likeable with his obvious positive attitude, by all accounts, but I feel he is not a good enough RB for where we need to be heading.

What is it with you people and relying on rags to form your opinions? Bizarre behaviour.
You aren't the only one to watch the game, they were there. He was good but not particularly stand out. If games like today are considered brilliant then no wonder some of you consider him our best player.

No, I wasn't the only person to watch the game but I presume you did?

Maguire was balls. MEN don't know what they're talking about. Dalot was good, and most importantly of all he's reliably that good game after game.

I would say Lisandro is our best player but yeah, Dalot should win player of the year and I think probably will?

Also think people don't realize how few good RBs there are at the moment in world football.

It is between him and Garnacho for POTY. However, Garnacho is, as expected, more inconsistent.

Otherwise there are no candidates

I think Dalot has been quite good but you have to laugh at how far "quite good" is ahead of most of our squad.

Garnacho will definitely win it. Would be a huge surprise if he didn't. Mainoo a close second.

Garnacho has both when he’s on it, but he’s young and his technical side can be inconsistent however athletically he’s brilliant. I think as he matures it may develop further. Shaw I agree also possesses it but the risk is that the injuries have already began to impact him athletically.

For me it’s the absolute priority to find players that possess both the right level of athletic ability and technical quality because the top teams are full of players with both.

Well I disagree, he was my MOTM by a mile today. 6 is incredibly harsh. Watch the game of highlights again and he didn’t put a foot wrong today. Played out from the back, dribbled out of trouble and still defended Diaz fantastically. That isn’t hyperbole that’s me watching the game and the people I watched it with all agreed he was MOTM.

Indeed, but for a 19 year old. He will become faster and stronger, and with his mentality work on an already impressive skillset.
Agreed, I think he lacks a little strength at the moment and will build on his already impressive pace.

Fair enough, I would say he's clearly our player of the season. Who do you reckon has clearly been better than him?
Garnacho by a mile a 19 year old carrying the attack

From what was a problem area for some time with neither he or Wan Bissaka really making any improvements to their game, his emergence in the inverted role has given us a free run at trying to find a new left back.

I hope this isn’t the exception, and the minimum performance he continues with for the rest of his years.

Impressive season, some forgivable brainfarts as is the case with every full back in the world.

I think he's great.

He has everything - Pace, Stamina, strong, good in the air, technique, decent positioning, mentally seems good. Can't really see much of a flaw.

Garnacho would be second for me, he's been very good but his overall game is lacking a bit at this stage of his development and he's been less consistent.

Ones saying hes been the best RB in the league
Whoever the best right back in the league is, isn't as good as Lahm anyway. If you could point me in the direction of the posts calling him the best in the league right now because I must have missed those.

Glad we didn't sell him. If Shaw and the CBs can stay fit long enough we would have a good defensive line next season.

Also the only two bright rays of light this year are him and Garnacho.

Quantify why you think Dalot has been better than Mainoo or Nacho. It's all good saying it but try to make it make sense to someone who's not seeing it?

People saying he was MoM in here but he's not sitewide or anywhere that I've seen. In fact even the young center back was better. It's all a bit of a stretch for me...
