What kind of idiot votes Lara Croft as the most iconic video game character?
I would. See my earlier comment as well as one or two others in here why we agree with it.

Regardless, its hilarious how fired up people get over what in the end is a meaningless poll. We're talking videogame characters people.

This is a great point actually, that I hadn’t considered. The correct answer is still Mario however.
Actually yeah I said no particular order I take that back I’d have Mario and Pikachu both above her but she’d come in my top 10

Lara Croft is certainly an iconic character, but she’s comfortably below Mario, Sonic, Pac-Man etc.

Anyway I would have Lara Croft up there definitely - amongst some others. She’s especially important because (if I’m not mistaken) there were no major female protagonists in video games before her.
Samus Aran from Metroid predates Lara Croft by about a decade, but I don't think that series was that popular in the west until quite a bit later

I’m guessing they are trying to mimic the film BAFTA awards and want to present video games as a somewhat serious art form. Can’t really do that with a blue hedgehog or Italian plumber(Even if both are better answers).

I'd love to see that, can you post a pic? Tough call between Sub Zero and Scorpion and I was always a Raiden fan.
Not done the pokemon bit yet, and I don't have any pics of the MK logo behind sub zero, plus as it's covering up an old tattoo, it doesn't look great yet as it needs a second doing to cover properly

Not sure if this will work as it's a discord link
To be fair, just realised, the last video pretty much shows everything in one go

Btw i love how you embraced the Russian stereotype when it comes to Adidas gear

Ha, yeah thanks. For a cover up, I'm really happy with it.
Speaking of video games, the one downside is I'd love to get a sleeve of the Fallout universe, but my other arm is all Harry Potter

Thanks, that is really cool. I hadn't even thought about having the fatality move as a pic:lol:
The turtles look amazing. It's all really bold with the colours too and nice choice for the cover up. A couple of friends have them, but they're so dark.
That must've taken hours.

It’s between Mario and Pikachu, I’m leaning slightly towards the former since he’s been around for longer and there are more Mario casual content on the streaming scene than Pokemon.

For some (probably mistaken) reason I don't consider the Pokémon world to be mainly about videogames, but if it is, then all of Mario, Sonic, Pac-Man and Pikachu, and probably several others, are far, far more iconic than Lara Croft.

I have never been a big gamer and I was never a Nintendo user, but Mario must be up there. Sonic must also be up there as the character was huge in 91/92 when the Sega Megadrive came out. I'd say Lara Croft must also be up there for the same reason, when Tomb Raider came out Lara Croft was everywhere and even non-games knew about her. All iconic without necessarily being the best, however you assess that. I'd say anyone's view on this will be hugely influenced by how old they are and if they are a gamer or not (and for what period).

I'd say where you're from too. Outside of the UK (BAFTA) Lara Croft wasn't that well known back in the days. For instance Tomb Raider is the 20th best selling game in the US on PS1 and it dosent even make the Top 50 in Japan. In contrast Crash Bandicot and Spyro are in the top 6 in the US and in Japan its dominated by JRPGs, mainly Final Fantasy series. I dare say Crash, Spyro and Cloud are more iconic to 90s and noughties kids than Lara Croft in those respective countries. However, Mario, Sonic, Pikachu and a few others will be timeless and be recognised wherever you maybe and from any generation. I know there have been remakes and such of Tomb raider but its not even the same character anymore, IMO anyway. The iconic ones will always be recognisable because they don't change.

If most iconic means most famous, it's always Mario. If it means something else, then here are some very subjective suggestions.

Finally, a man of actual culture. A few billion points to you for putting Kane up there.

Also, we had to wait this long for someone to mention Gordon Freeman... shame on you, RedCafe.

Not sure about most iconic, but the coolest character is John Marston
Good shout, although Arthur Morgan was a great character too.
