I think we can have a bit of a smirk at Arsenal bottling it again, and a huge sigh of relief at Liverpool not winning number 20.

Then we can mentally pigeon hole everything that City do as a result of cheating on an enormous scale. Or as some people have coined it, the Asterix years.

For football fans who know what City are, sure.

Eventually, the majority of football fans will be people who weren't even born at the time of the Abu Dhabi takeover and they won't even be aware that City are just the product of blood money coming from a middle eastern dictatorship that's stuck in the 1700s judging by their penal code.
That's a little bit melodramatic.

Because nobody cares if City wins anything.

City stopped being City in 2008. What remains is like that face on Hannibal Lecter in Silence of the Lambs.

Yep. Any United fan who wanted City to win the league last season has surely learned their lesson after seeing them win the treble. Back to back trebles would be sickening.
Yeah hands up I have learnt my lesson, stupidly believed we could end their treble bid at Wembley but never materialised. Like many have said I don't see them being severely punished for the charges, therefore can't really see their titles as asterisks.

Arsenal and Liverpool winning it would be a shame on us, because they have earned it.

Everyone knows City is a cheat code. So even if they win back-to-back trebles, it would feel hollow. Nobody would care.

At least that’s how the CAF sees it.

It’s really stupid. Arsenal aren’t a local or traditional rival. We have no connection with Arsenal except for when we’re both competing for stuff.

This whole “meaning” argument was understandable initially but it’s reached the point where City are now eclipsing a lot of our achievements. And as of now the record books have no asterisk and the general global footballing public is seeing their rise and rise and rise. You don’t think little kids will grow up revering City’s achievements even if not supporting them? Not to mention all the discourse of great PL players / teams? Would people want them to win the league ahead of Villa too? . They’re our City rivals ffs.

Then they support City only because they are winning. They are just glory-hunters, which the CAF also dismiss. :wenger:

We need Arsenal to win the epl. If they don't, I'll take city over pools. Very reluctantly, but anyone but Liverpool.

Can’t believe people are seriously suggesting the league is done now mind. Even when it was just Liverpool that dropped points, it’s still a 3 horse race.

I was strongly feeling the Sky depression over the results yesterday, pretty much everyone expects a City procession to the title now right?

Arsenal and Liverpool had to put City away in those first few months when they were missing De Bruyne and Stones while dealing with the hangover of the treble. There was a certain inevitability otherwise.

Spitty is really good in this role. Stick to this instead of being a gobshite wanker on commentary.

Cole palmer is such a good player. I’m still shocked that city sold him.
