I know it is a trophy, but it will only give the EL, they might be more intent on getting 4th and CL. If they fail they will get EL anyway.
Considering who they are managed by I'm surprised Villa didn't go on to win this cup competition, then again the Europa League seems to be his favourite competition.

And the comfort of getting the extra UCL spot is looking less likely after the results yesterday.
There's no chance of English teams getting 5th now. Our own fault. Was listening to radio earlier and they were saying with the English teams their players look really leggy due to intensity of PL. Not sure if true or they are just clutching at straws.

Villa have scored? Surely that shouldnt stand though because the keeper has the ball in his hands and is in control of it before he collides with his defender

Thing is with that title, is it fans saying it or is it the press and the likes of TNT/SKY/PL bigging us up. Exciting league I would say, but not sure about quality.
Most people would agree that the PL is incredibly competitive. I find it ironic that our teams get smashed in Europe when many fans belittle other leagues calling them farmer leagues.

Lille are a decent team, no shame in Villa losing to them but some fans would make you think they'd struggle in the Championship by the way they talk.

Either way, funny to see us have to eat humble pie.

It was never disallowed in the first place
It should have been though or at least it should have been under the FA Rules as the goalkeeper had control of the ball before it was knocked from his hands by the collision

FA Rules said:
A goalkeeper is considered to be in control of the ball with the hand(s) when:

the ball is between the hands or between the hand and any surface (e.g. ground, own body) or by touching it with any part of the hands or arms except if the ball rebounds from the goalkeeper or the goalkeeper has made a save
holding the ball in the outstretched open hand
bouncing it on the ground or throwing it in the air
A goalkeeper cannot be challenged by an opponent when in control of the ball with the hand(s).

He drops it because he bottles landing on the floor. Poor keeping, he also grabs his head when he realises he's dropped the ball.
