Yes, he can refer to whichever you want to a thing that was in his demented head. But you can't have a guy than over an over seems that he should be in a nursing home as a POTUS
I mean....sure? It was a literal pandemic (WHO declared it as such) during his term as vice president under Obama. There are a million and one things to rage on the guy for, but a disingenuous blurb from the NY Post (really???) is probably not in that list.

A gaffe is not a problem, 2 either. A non stop it is just piling up over an over

And you are right, this is not even the issue. Being an ally to a genocide country is way worse, because the man probably can't even think critically sometimes

But it wasn't a gaffe...so....?

Disinformation, and posting anything by the NY Post is basically trafficking in it, is something that should be called out. I've tried to point stuff out I know is wrong no matter who it targets.

I'll reel back here

you are right that probably referred to the H1N1. Trying to safe my face though, is just weird that he uses THE pandemic and he doesn't clarify the pandemic when it can be clearly confusing

And that lack clarity allows the NY post an other usual suspects outlets to disinform people like me, that pulls the trigger easier only reading the headlines

With that i am saying is Biden's fault! :wenger:

I will agree that it was a poor choice of words because at this point Pandemic should be capitalized as it is shorthand for a singular event, and so to use it in this context was dumb. Anyways, in an ocean of sticks to (metaphorically secret service, metaphorically) beat the man with, grasping at this blade of dead grass seems a bit much.

Agreed, and I fell completely for the headline. I should know better

With the NY Post you reaally should :D This is a publication that has recently had the following headlines:

I married a ghost named Edwardo who cheated on me — then I adopted a possessed clown doll

I was called a freak for having no belly button — now I earn six figures as a fitness influencer

Museum achieves world record for largest gathering of people with underwear on their heads

It's right wing tabloid but it doesn't mean every single article is manufactured out of thin air.

Yeah stupid doesn't even begin to describe it.

Biden deserves all the vitriol he gets on account of being a genocidal apologist, but throwing your hat into the Trump crowd, a man who's more vehemently pro-Israeli, and who's base looks at your people with contempt is peak stupidity, and a classic case of cutting off your own nose.

Yeah, why I press the trigger is because when I googled, I saw yahoo at the top of the headlines saying it and the video Biden saying it and not explaining what pandemic he referred (THE pandemic)

But again, my fault. Was too eager to pin another demented gaffe to Biden

Exactly, I didn’t wear that underwear on my head for no reason after all, there was a record to set!
Reminds me of a Blackadder episode for some reason

He meant the Spanish flu pandemic.

I know you both abhor the man, but he was almost certainly referring to the H1N1 outbreak
Apparently the White House is saying he meant the recession

And when I was vice president, things were kind of bad during the pandemic [recession], and what happened was Barack said to me, “Go to Detroit and help fix it.” Well, poor mayor, he spent more time with me than he ever thought he was going to have to. (Laughter.) God love you.

Imo his brains are just mush at this point.

Certainly he kills much more people than me and has an overall very much negative impact in the world than me. You are right

Also a pathetic speech plagarist (multiple times) and in law school. So who knows of all the many things he does is genuine or original. He is a fecking hack that weasel their way up via influence trafficking and bought by pacs and superpacs like most north americans than reach the opportunity to be POTUS

Anyone with the heart in the right place and a normal brain would do a better job than him that he sold his soul and he brain farts half steps of the way.

Who hurt you to be almost as beligerant with me than biden with palestianians

Whether it's him or the people behind him, anyone that keeps wanting to hand wave the rhetoric, I don't know how much more you need to get worried. They are not looking to run for one more win and then leave. These people want to rule forever because they know it's the only way their ideology wins. Extremist ideology of all sides cannot survive robust elections. They know that and that's why they ALWAYS install dictatorships. Trump, again in recent ramblings, talked about exceeding the two-term limit. A Reich that lives beyond set limits, hmmm what on earth do you think they are talking about?

The ignorance of the population is unbelievable.

Good old dems. So incompetent, Trump is now leading the polls with a group of people he wanted to ban from entering the country. Almost impressive.

Anyway, apparently Gaza is not a concern for many American voters so nothing to worry for the Dems?

It's quite something. I think an element of that poll is an emotional response but if Dems think they can get away with this admin's policy over Gaza, they're on a different planet.

Don’t you think Biden is in a ‘damned if you do…’ etc scenario? There’s a significant and influential Jewish vote too, and you can bet the Trump campaign is just waiting for any sign of a weakening of US support for Israel in order to make political capital from that.
Either way, I’m still of the belief that although it’s a very emotive subject, when Americans come to vote in 6 months they’ll make their decision based on the thing they’ve always based it on: the economy.

Oh yeah. And loads of recency bias. But to be fair to Muslims in the US, I don’t know what I would do in their place.

And you are spot on, the dems are walking into disaster with their Israel policy. And I don’t think they even realise this.

It seems mad that this narrative keeps being repeated, that says Gaza is merely a fringe issue and the economy and domestic issues are the important ones: Yes most American's probably don't really care about foreign issues and the bulk of the votes won't be thinking anything about Israel and Palestine but you're in a seemingly tight race with this seismic figure - who you have warned - could do permanent damage to American democratic institutions. Doesn't that behove you to take these "fringe" yet deeply held concerns seriously and fecking do something substantial, instead of constantly dismissing the issue - or worse escalating the violent rhetoric. Sure it might not eventually matter but why take that risk and who are you helping by constantly trying to talk over these increasingly loud protestations?

Because these students continue to protest, tiktokers continue to flood social media with images of brutal carnage and Biden continues to frantically tie himself to Israel as it drags us all down with it.

I do agree that Dems are in a tough spot but this support Israel at all costs won’t wash. Whatever balance there is I am sure the current policy is not it.

Listen, you're entirely fine to formulate an opinion on the US President. But if you come on here and try to smear him and fail because you're quoting utter trash, then you should expect some push back. The list of important, well-regarded world leaders who claim Biden is a great person who has endured incredible personal hardship and still dedicated his entire life to public service is incredibly long, but oh great recently-radicalised internet user says he's a hack so let's roll with that.

Meanwhile, Trump stands outside the courtroom yesterday saying he wasn't able to campaign in Iowa for the primary (he was, and did) because he's stuck in court. And over the weekend, he said he'd repeal the first hit to the second ammendment in years, limiting those convicted of domestic violence from purchasing weapons. He also said he'd deport any students caught protesting, put maga judges onto the supreme court, and froze for an extended period of time. But none of that gets covered, because, well, I've no idea to be honest.

I don't agree with Biden at all on the Gazan issue. I wish he wasn't running again, as he's too old. But I wouldn't presume to slander, smear and generally attack a man because I disagree with him on policy issues. Especially one as decorated as Joe Biden.

I follow US politics (unhealthily) closely, and pretty much every democratic political operative is terrified of it. They all realise it. Including those in the WH.

Biden literally called for a ceasefire yesterday, has the head of the CIA and the state department at the negotiations right now. If Hamas won't release hostages, and Netanyahu won't stop the offensive, there will be no ceasefire. The US can and should withold any further military aid to Israel to push on that side, but two days ago the Israeli defense minister and leader of the coalation that holds together Netanyahu's government said that if Netanyahu doesn't agree to move into Rafah, then he'll dissolve the government.

Which factor do you think will influence Netanyahu more? The threat of the US witholding a few billion of weapons, or him being ousted next week and then facing both Israeli and international courts?

For me the biggest issue is that - for whatever reason - Biden is trying to trust Netanyahu. And that's the last thing he should be doing. Especially as Netanyahu desperately wants Trump in power so he can do whatever he wants.

I also think there's a way to message a withdrawal of Israeli support to the US-Jewish population that would really resonate, focussed on the best future for the Jewish state and the moral side of refugees.

People have strangely forgotten everything Trump said, says, did and tried to do just a few years ago. Instead they go for 'well it's really bad so nothing could be worse'.

He is a mediocrity, only relevant to (inter)national politics because Barack Obama needed an old white guy to assuage fears that he was too young and too black way back in 2008.

For me the biggest issue is that - for whatever reason - Biden is trying to trust Netanyahu. And that's the last thing he should be doing. Especially as Netanyahu desperately wants Trump in power so he can do whatever he wants.
This is all easy to understand once you shed the idea that Biden is particularly competent.
