Villa say they will approach him and that he is a "free agent" So what is stopping this happening in any situation to avoid paying comp to the former club?

Surely there has to be a rule in place to not allow this?

Steve Mclaren doesn't sound so bad now to Villa fans. Villa are a good club there must be someone out there why go through all this trouble for McLeish.

He must be nuts. Not necessarily because he left Brum, but even considering joining their bitter rivals. One bad result, and those that don't already hate him, will be all over him, too.

Disaster written all over it.

Anyone see the protest? I was praying that the tubby asshole in the white shirt would fall from those gates.

Yes Ive seen the "protest".
If there were no cameras there I wonder how many would turn up.
Fifty per cent of football fans are extremely stupid and Aston Villa "we are a big club" fans seem more stupid than most.
One idiot boasts that he will get the sack when the Security people see him on Tv but he doesnt care. Maybe his wife and kids care.
Likewise they boast about sending their season tickets back.
Absolute stupidity. But not much on TV on a Wednesday.

Sky Sports News are claiming that Alex McLeish will be named as new Villa boss within the next 24 hours. Presumably links to Ben Foster and Roger Johnson/Scott Dann will follow within 24 minutes.
Nutcase.

I don't understand why Villa appoint him, not that I think he's a bad manager at all but because of his connection with Birminham City and that the fans hates him.

He is a proven, successful manager and could do well for them. He needs to get some good results quickly or else he will be under huge pressure from the fans. They aren't the most patient bunch. If he does well for them they'll forget very quickly that he's ex Birmingham.

He is gutsy, the amount of stick he has taken from both sides is phenomenal. Kind of makes you wander whether it's worth it, but Villa are one of the bigger clubs so it's a fantastic opportunity for him.

Proven and successful? Where? In Scotland? Doesn't count.
