One thing I do believe is that Antony will be for them (people) what they wrongly assumed Sancho is or would be. Sancho is a consummate team player who thrives in a complex chain and relationship-orientated set-up - he needs his FB to overlap; he wants his inside men to pass to and relay the ball back to him; he wants as much intricacy as others are willing to provide. Antony, by contrast, wants to isolate and go at men; he wants chaos and disarray and is quick-thinking enough to exploit it. He’s not reliant on others making smart moves to do his thing and he really likes to humiliate and entertain.

If he comes here, he’ll be the new pin-up boy in no time, and his brand will go through the roof in accordance with that. He’s going to make an absolute fortune here through sponsorship and elevated profile. The more you think about it, the more irate you’d imagine the player to be if denied the move - even as a footballer, it’s a life-changing one for him at a club so desperate for new shining lights and flair. Right now, he has the opportunity of making a name in a potential resurgence. It’s absolutely huge and an opportunity that other clubs can’t provide simply because they are not in anywhere near the same predicament as us and already have star names (who are performing) dotted throughout their attack thus diluting what a single flair player brings to the table.

Think this mirrors a Giggs or Kanchelskis bursting onto the scene and electrifying the crowd. Ironic really, because if a Nani came through our doors right now, he’d be a god as opposed to the player who so many took for granted back then.

Then you should think about why those transfer news not happened before match start, the board thought their whole team of players were still good enough before got smash and believe ETH can turn around those players to a decent (After losing Pogba, Cavani etc.)
Prove it. How do you know the board thought that? More likely Ten Hag had no idea how big of a waste of space the squad was and has been made to realise it.

From a financial POV, Ajax could make some serious cash just by riding the Ziyech - Antony - Ziyech merry-go-round. Back to where they started, with a player who was great for them and around £100m up in just 2 years. Smart club.

If he's as good as Nani, I'd be delighted.

Mad mad mad money. Anyone who says we've not backed Ten Hag is full of shite to be honest.
Objectively yes but that's the perspective that keeps the Glazers in power.

I won't be appeased by late window panic buys after the opening defeats. Expensive lipstick on a pig.

Crazy money. But I'd rather us spend our massive amounts on money on actual players that improve us and are in need, rather then wasting it or it being siphoned out of the club.

The problem is we've already had a garbage start and are in panic stations. Backing him properly would've been getting this done 2 months ago. Getting casemiro 2 months ago. Getting rid of Ronaldo if that's what EtH wants and not blocking his exit like what is reported.

Timing is very important, especially given how stacked the first few months of this season are. But anyway, long term it doesn't matter, but for immediate impact it does.

Who the bloody feck is sulking
My apologies sir Judas sulking may have been the wrong word.
No transfers this season can be called as supporting ETH. This should have been done in June/July during the pre-season.
This season we will probably bring in 3-4 players at the end of the transfer window and will need to settle down.
Cannot expect anything major this season and bringing these players in is not called backing him. Glazers have given in to pressure and knowing Monday there will be protests and want to nip in in the bud.
Also they would look to reduce the anger by not bringing in FDJ and have resorted to loosen the purse at the very end of the window.

No one with sense will be. I hope the protests are just big as originally planned, no matter who we sign before Monday.

Electric player.
I think you're spot on here. Anthony exudes self-belief, something ten Hag has repeatedly said is the key to performance. He's not lacking in snide and work ethic either. Obviously it's a gamble but he's got the talent and mentality to make it a good bet, not just on the ptch but on the training ground too. if he draws enough attention to free up a bit of space for Sancho that's a proper bonus.

If we could get Antony and get Ronaldo off the books, bring in a striker like Moussa Dembele or Jonathan David, that would be immense.

Won't happen of course.

Antony's very talented, but most importantly, he has intensity and determination in his play - something Rashford, Sancho and Martial all lack.

Would love this signing. Even for €80m. Feck the stats, he's gonna be a star.

That’s really silly money, he better be really good. Hopefully not another one who would need 10 other system players, great weather, no wind and 100 other excuses to perform well.

That's too fecking much, won't be worth it, risky move.
What if it is worth it? What if he becomes our Salah? What if in 10 years he's a United legend after winning the league here?

Everyone just defaults thinking negatively about every signing because they're more interested in worrying about the clubs bookkeeping

Once the collective comes together they'll all have a unit that supports them rather than one that drags them down.

Hopefully he turns out to be what we all hoped Rashford would become at this point. Excited to see a winger with flair and actual skill attacking for us.

So we paid 100M including add ons to get this guy who will predominantly play on the right, I guess Sancho will now move to the left and compete with Rashford then?

True. He's a player our new managers has played with so would understand his potential.

David isn't a CF though?
From what I've seen of Lille, admittedly not very much, he seems to play mostly in the same sort of role Rooney played for us when RVN or Saha were up front.

Think he'll be far too expensive anyway. Moussa Dembele would be the obvious one given he's in the last year of his contract and scored 22 goals last season. But he might already be Juve bound.

Seems like a player that could jolt the entire front line into action by himself

+ €20m, which you’d assume is purely CL qualification over a number of seasons, which means it‘s either €80m as it already was, or he’s been a resounding success and makes the extra €20m a more than fair deal. These incentives we’re seeing are excellent for us - we need to be a CL perennial fixture and it’s high time we inserted it into contracts. Help us, and we sure as shit will help you.
