He's talking about Antony and the possibility of him leaving Ajax for Manchester United this summer.
I know but he's coming across in an odd manner, sometimes you have to look qt it from all angles, does he think he'll get the best out of Antony if they force him to stay?
There's a big bid on the table above his value and the player wants out, he should be looking at the realities.

How many times this Ajax manager gonna mention they are in the CL ? You aren’t clever, it’s obvious what you are doing. Yes you are in the CL but still Antony wants to leave. What does it say then, even more so about you and your club’s pull ? Oh, by the way, you can stop dining on the the success of the previous manager, you didn’t achieve that champions league qualification you keep on harping, the previous manager did you shameless moron. And that previous manager still left Ajax after winning the league to manage you know which club ? The same Manchester United. Pipe down and take it in. What a bitter man.

Oh, Absolutely. He's just trying to save face and get the most money out of the deal i'm sure. This one is going to happen, i'm sure.

Seems to be giving a clear indication to his board that if Antony leaves, don't hold him responsible for league/ CL performance.

Can understand his position.

Join a new club and see the team you inherited get dismantled
But he could get Ziyech who is a very big player in his time in the Eredevise. Schreuder himself would crawl to OT I united come calling.

It feels very naive or typically arrogant that a Dutch league manager can take a few of his players from a much weaker league and replicate the same level. I worry also.
The thing is, we have tried to take players from our own league, from Spain, from
Germany. Doesn’t really matter where at the end of the day because the problem has been the same for years. Liverpool spent almost 100m euros on Nunez from the Portuguese league yet nobody is going daft about it in the media.

He seems really bitter, keeps mentioning us being out of UCL - like bro, we can offer him more money, play alongside better players, under a better manager & i know it doesn’t look like it now, but better future prospects. Of course he’s gonna leave.

Can't believe I'm seeing fans getting on the ajax's manager's back for wanting to keep one of their best players. How dare he not bow down and pack Antony's bags for him and pay for his plane ticket to take him to our Klub.

I mean didn't Ten Hag say Ronaldo is not for sell, even though Ronaldo asked to leave due to wanting to play in the CL?

Is ten hag an ''idiot''?

Maguire got killed for being 80 mil here, hopefully being a 90 mil player doesn’t get the fan base pointing fingers at him every possibility it can.
It’s pretty worrying when posters don’t differentiate between euros and pounds. It’s not like they are two totally different currencies.

I think Ten Hag is making a big mistake here. Only looks in the Eredivisie, which is called a farmer league by many of you here. The league isn't that bad in my opinion but it's certainly not great either. Now you have 4 (!) Eredivisie players that cost around 230 million. That's insane actually and I doubt these are the players United needed. I seriously fear for Ten Hag's position if you look at the upcoming matches. I think he's a brilliant coach so I hope he can show England what he's made off but he's making a classic new trainer mistake here. If you think about it: what player from the Eredivisie really took off after landing a club in the EPL? Not a whole lot
Suarez said Hi.

This is clearly close, with a replacement already lined up. But what fantastic efficiency from Ajax to basically sign the replacement already

One could argue that playing in the premier league over the Dutch league is as big an attraction.

Yes, this is the message. He knows there isn't much he can do to keep Antony, so he's playing his cards well.

Its not part about wanting him to stay, It is about using argument that we are not in the Champions League and that’s why Ajax is better place to be.

We have a good chance to win Europe League and here he can play in the best League in the world with some great players for manager that made him the player he is.

Ajax will play CL but there is a chance they not gonna make It out of the group then he will be left with Eredivisie matches…

plus he will get few times better contract here and a chance to play with his two countrymates few months before WC

plus Ajax board said they want 100 mil for him and we are ready to Pay similar amount so his stance about club wanting Antony to stay is BS.

It'd be exciting to see him playing for us off the right, we missed what a left footer cutting from the right or crossing from the right can do.
Does he take the 11 shirt?

There's a world cup coming up and what if he doesn't perform on the right in a more competitive league with a 100 million price tag hanging over his head, with competition competing with Sancho?

ETH made Donny at Ajax, doesn't mean he's capable of sprinkling magic dust on him to be good enough to be a first team regular here in the premiership.

This is no different to Timber deciding to stay, to develop more otherwise he could easily be out of his depth here in the prem and get dropped down the pecking order and risk his place at the world cup

“We are in the CL”

Thanks in no small part to your last manager and about 6 players who aren’t there anymore.

Good job they have CL football eh?

Now this 5head manager can stop moaning, sell us Antony and be happy.

I hope we don't have to deal with Ajax for a little while now.

It sure does!

SUPER happy that we waited until the season started to get serious about trransfers! :wenger:

We can all see it was a mistake by Ten Hag to give this group of players a "clean slate" but tbh, I don't blame him.

Somebody at the club had to take control of the situation and breif Ten Hag on the current team with Ragnick essentially being fired.

The decision may have set us back weeks or potentially months, but again, this is just another one of the boards shortcomings

Its just about him posturing in front of his board (and fans).

Yea, just trying to make best out of what is actually a pretty damming situation for a manager

This is exactly what he Ajax manager is saying. He's not talking to Antony, he's talking to Ajax fans and stakeholders "how do you expect me to perform when we're losing key players"? The way Ajax operates (with manager focused only on coaching the team he has), there's nothing else he can do.
Ajax has done well in terms of skinning us from money, they made the best out of situation but their football will suffer surely.

If we get slapped by Liverpool tonight he'll be announced tomorrow I reckon.

Oh, we will be in touch to sign Timber and Kenneth Taylor soon. :D

The biggest thing behind the lines your mentioning is that money is the prime thing. Thát is a difference with Ajax. Obviously money attracts players and managers, but like a wise man said years ago: “I have never seen a bag of money score a goal”. You need to assemble a cooperating team. That next to proper scouting and education is where Ajax gets most of its funds to be able to keep playing Ajax style in Europeaan leagues. It is (should) not all about who has the most money.

Man Utd bought loads of players for big money and I don’t think we have to re-discuss their output (cough maguire cough).

So I’d rethink your argument of being able to give more money as future prospect weighs more then playing UCL and having fun in a well organized team instead of a snake pit

I agree but i understand ETH also, he needs to earn the players trust so he has to give everyyone a chance or it can cause unrest.

I really think you’re missing some key points here.

About chance of winning UL.
Man Utd is rock bottom with 2 big losses and with liverpool as next contender. I’d say it would be unexpected if Man Utd will leave the last position. So how could you foresee a win of the UL?!

Ajax might not reach the UCL knockout phase.
If you state that Man Utd could win the UL, then how could you not foresee Ajax reaching the knockout phase while it is situated in bowl 1?!
And lets say íf they unfortunately would not reach the UCL knockout phase, why would Ajax only have eredivisie matches? What about decending to the UL? Or do you really expect Ajax to become the last in the UCL pool? That would definitely be surprising to me.

Ajax can offer proper contracts as well as it is a financially very healthy club. Besides that the prospect will be that if Antony stays a year at Ajax, plays the WC and transferes next year he still would be able to get that proper salary and maybe even in a PL-club playing bowl-1 UCL.

About Ajax demanding 100m euro.
That is the demand, but it is not offered. 80m +bonus is something different. Again, Ajax does not really want to sell Antony. Plus they need to pay 20% to sao paulo of the transfer fee, so even if it is a huge amount, if he stays it probably is merely a delay of transfer fee to next year

You keep saying that, but you know it matters because this isn't sustainable burning all that money. It is the money of the club, so it does matter if you have a short term vision like this where you overpay for players that are a bit of a gamble.

Barcelona kept overpaying like idiots now look at them

I know the fee is huge but if he's the best left footed RW on the market or the one with the highest potential, it may make sense for us. We really lack someone of that profile to inject some life into the right hand side of our attack.

Only issue is which RW will thrive with Dalot behind him.
