This game seems to have had some pretty good previews - there is an closed beta starting tomorrow which you can still sign up for (I signed up yesterday and received confirmation today)

Seems like it could be fun - not sure how much depth it has, but looking forward to giving it a go tomorrow.

Thanks, signed up today. Looks good from the trailers, which is always a sure sign of a great game haha.

Be interested to try it out.

Did you get your code through your email? Or in your inbox on psn? Sure I signed up to this and haven't heard anything. Looks quite good IMO, will probably be a laugh online and a good change from fps online games.

I got mine through my email this morning.

Should be good - looks pretty brutal :)

Had another look an no email, then I realised Google sorted it into categories, and I got the code yesterday morning!!! Get in, what time does beta go live?

"Hold B to stay dead"?
I like how easy it is to kill someone (at least judging by the trailer) - not like in some games when you can hit someone with a sword for hours without any effect

Gave it a quick go, fecks sake, got marmalised on my first one on one... :/ Not good. I guess I can add this to the list of games I'm shit at

I had a quick go on it last night - I liked how against the regular soldiers you can just hack and slash, while the more powerful people need more strategy and timing to defeat. Will play a bit more over the weekend to make my mind up on it I think.

But aside from Ghost Recon in March, there is also Sniper Elite 4 released on the same day as For Honor, so will choose between one of them :)

Obviously I'll just end up buying them all (Just picked up COD Ghosts and Infamous as they were proper cheap on the store and fancied an FPS not set in the year 7 billion) Always happens. I think this For Honor has potentional, tried the 4 vs 4 mode and that was quite fun. If you get a team together and stick to at least 2 together at all times it could work well. Came 3rd in my team.

I (think I?) remember reading about the combat being somewhat rock, paper, scissors

Kinda put me off it a bit so I haven't been following the news on it really

Hopefully it's an unexpected suprise

Just had a quick check, Sniper Elite 4, For Honor, Ghost Recon: Wildlands, Horizon: Zero Dawn in February alone  I am guessing For Honor and Wildlands are the 2 I'd buy first so they've got a decent community on them, for SE4 and HZD they will be more single player for me so can buy in sales at some point I suppose.

The UI puts me off playing this. Ubisoft games always have too much crap going on-screen.

In the Division I ended up having to turn off loads of the UI.

Plus after experiencing Dark Souls' amazing combat, I find other games like The Witcher etc more of a chore than enjoyable.

Kind of like RPS but you get a good idea of the opponent is going to do if you pay attention. But the fact that it's p2p connection based will be it's downfall given how important reaction time is to the combat.

Combat looks so much fun, the environment kills are excellent.

It's a shame the combat isn't a bit more dynamic though. Would be far more epic if equipment was durable, would provide a bit more tactics during gameplay as your shield could splinter and break. It's a bit too arcade still, but does look loads of fun.

I mean, why wouldn't I be interested? A high budget Chivalry sounds awesome...

... But it's Ubisoft, so I'll wait.

I'm leaning towards Tom Clancys Wildlands over this - I liked the beta, but didn't hook me as much as wildlands

The only bug i've seen is the ladder bug. First few hours the servers were fecked in the open beta as well.

This is one of the few games from Ubisoft i'd consider buying tbh, it's a very different game to anything else out there atm. Esports for this game are going to be incredible due to the technical skill required to play this.

Unlikely, as it will have no dedicated servers. With P2P connections it's almost impossible to grow into an actual serious e-sport. Nobody would consider Dark Souls PvP an actual e-sport, for example.

Also, feck Ubisoft for requiring constant internet connection for a game that has a single player campaign. I wish companies stopped doing this shit.

U sure that's not just bcuz of it being a beta and therefore needing connection to report bugs?

They already had a Tournament mate which had high numbers on Twitch. This is a very technical game and really entertaining to watch, so wouldn't surprise me one bit if it did well as an esport.

Also I think the Dark Souls comparison is lazy. I'd say it's far more similar to a fighter game like Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter that requires combo strats.

I compared it to DS because of the p2p connection method and the issues it caused in DS PvP.

I'm interested, absolutely.
But... Need to get that ethernet cable into the living room, don't trust the wifi.
