Imagine having mid-20s Giggs, Scholes and Beckham in the squad right now...
Always maintained that P Neville was a lucky guy. Right place right time. Which continues to sustain his media career today.
It's a shame the team around them post '99 wasn't quite good enough otherwise more success in Europe would surely have come. With their reputations rightly enhanced.
Phil wasn't really in the 1992 team at all but just seems to be added to the list for some reason.
In terms of youth years...
1990 - Ryan Giggs
1992 - Beckham, Butt, G, Neville
1993 - Scholes, P. Neville
Of course Phil played in two more campaigns and captained the team to success in 1995.
I remember Phil looking better than Gary for a time in 95/96. Didn't last obviously.
Phil was rated the much higher talent when coming through. Quicker, better on the ball, could play either side. He suffered from not having a consistent position, that adaptability does have some drawbacks. Some of his most memorable performances came in midfield, his destruction of a prime Vieria stands out. Much better player than someone like Darmian for an example.
He wasn't what I expected. With all the hype I thought that would be a super star. Probably fans only knew him for the Champions league games, that amazing right foot and the free kicks.
He's a good looking bastard.
how old is the op![]()

Old enough to know what overrated means do you?
Pretty much everything you can name is overrated are you aware of this?
Overrated is not saying something is poor It's saying something is not the greatest thing ever when some people will try and convince you otherwise .
Scholes is a great player if some people say he uniteds best player ever and the main reason we won so much then that's overrating him .
Personally i feel Keane ,Eric,Schmeichel and Ronaldo not to mention others were more influential in our successes at that time than the class of 92 as good as they were hence when you see the media constantly bigging them up as the cornerstone of our success and making movies about them them and ignoring other reasons I think that's fair to call them out as slightly overrated .
How that is some sort of insult to them or fergie is beyond me .
Yeah I get you're not suggesting they weren't top class players or were in any way derogatory. Just seems to be a trend going round to call out any possible discussion and open up avenues to it. Football fans are incredibly simplistic at times and that comes from players/pundits alike ironically enough.Old enough to know what overrated means do you?

Because one swallow dose not a summer make. If you ask me Keane was our best player that year. And when we are discussing topics like this, the difference is inches not yards. SO everyone has a dog in the fight as long as its not Blomqvist they are saying. How are giggs and scholes underrated!? Theyve been sent to stratospheric levels on almost every thread like this.
Beckham is the one who seems to get talked down year on year. You watch the treble year he's the outstanding player of the three by a mile. Loads of goals and assist. A sensation that year

Well good on yaBeckham was way more than just a one season wonder.
He's the easy target to underrate, as he left early, had the whole circus around him, and people always seem to reward longevity over anything else.
Giggs was my favourite United player, early day Giggs though, not the central mid version.
Well good on ya
Thanks for your opinion
