Optimistic muppet. I like it. I don't think we stand a chance of signing him but I'm drunk enough to really appreciate your specific brand of optimism.
I am drunk on Black Labeelllll...what u drunk on?

Do not want him here. Much prefer the club to do what it will take to bring Pogba back. Uncomfortable with the club spending huge fees for players over 25. It is an unsustainable policy that is highly risky and is not in line with the ethos of the club.
The ethos of the club needs to change or we'd risk losing out on more talent. Even Wenger has changed his.

And it isn't highly risky. What is risky if we don't make the champions league again especially with the new broadcast deal.

We dont have a great record of bringing in Europe's best from Europe. Some will say thats because we didnt really try under Fergie but we did they just went elsewhere. Now we are looking for top drawer with no CL football. The first two signings dont point to that being likely either. yes there is no order to sign these players in but what ever way you cut it...we are being overly optimistic.
Or you're being a negative tool at every given opportunity.

So we've had some positive press stories but are still nowhere near to sealing the deal.

Yeah, this one is dead. Transfer sagas like this tend not to end well for this club.

I just think that the negotiations for Vidal opened with Evra signing for them, that gives us something to bargain with! I'm probably wrong but why would we let Evra go to them unless we wanted something in return! We are keeping our cards very close to our chest, nothing is being leaked at all and journos are trying to guess what's happening by saying things like monitoring situations. I actually think it's at a more advanced stage than that but like I said I get the feeling that we are insisting that nothing is to be leaked or even stipulating it, it's just my theory though and could be way off the mark here.

I agree. We kept the Herrera deal under wraps until last minute so why would we start leaking info about other deals. LvG has told United to keep details of transfers quiet.

I really get that feeling too. For me last season reeked of desperation the leaks were as if to say "look who we are trying to sign" when in reality it resulted in disaster and embarrassment. LVG will not want to repeat that.

I keep hearing this. I think the reality is probably very closer to the fact that LVG has little interest in transfers and just wants a good squad that he can work with, he has his own team who know what Van Gaal is looking for and I expect they have been in constant contact with Woodward with regards to he feels the squad needs.. How his boss then goes about acquiring them isn't really of his concern. I think people keep forgetting that - Woodward is Van Gaals boss, he wont be giving him any sort of instructions on how to do his job.

Another article in La Tercera which says LVG is obsessed with Vidal since his time in Germany.

Yeah I see what you are saying and I get that LVG is used to having a director of football acquiring the targets for him so has a squad to work with as opposed to him pursuing them. This is very new territory for us though as we are used to the manager and chief exec handling the transfers. By proxy though it would be quite embarrassing for LVG and the club if Woodward does not acquire targets that he has selected, presumably he has had a say in who we are targeting. I also don't think Van Gaal has a problem in giving his boss instructions as Woodward will be providing him with the tools to do his job effectively and that means getting in replacement players for those that have left/retired at the very least.

which does put into perspective, are united that big of a club has many like to make out, if we could not attract the players when we were champions, what is going to change now? Most of the big clubs are recognized, which seems to give united this right to be called the biggest. I just question if united are that big of a club when not many top players want to join us.

If real madrid or barcelona finished 7th, I still think they could attract the worlds best players

When LvG was talking in a dutch press conference about Chile he did say ''Chile has two very good individual players who are crucial to their team, Sanchez and Vidal. Especially Vidal''.

No he didn't say especially Vidal. He just mentioned them both.

Vidal didn't play against the Dutch yet he still mentioned him along with Sanchez.

It feels like every Vidal story is coming from this Anthony Chapman guy. He has done at least five articles about how the deal is close. He is going to look a right tit if we don't sign him

I distinctly remember him saying ''vooral Vidal'' at the end.

Is he normal?
Chilean media seem convinced this is happening. I suspect we've already tabled a bid and there might even be agreement. Even Di Marzio said we indeed had talks about Vidal with Juve but that Juve said no and talks have not commenced again. Not like Juve will say yeah sure he's yours. If we really want him then I get the feeling we will get him.

Not seen a great deal of Vidal probably around 10-12 games. What I did see I wasn't overly impressed thought he was good but top 3 midfielder in the world I just didn't see it. Am I missing something happy to take any opinions of any who have seen more of him.

We're consulting with Doctors regarding Vidal's knee injury before we decide to pay the $61 million fee for him according to the supposedly reliable El Mercurio, we don't want another Owen Hargreaves situation.
