I wouldn't mind seeing 3 at the back... (midfield 3 of Fred/Bruno/Pogba) but can see him putting Pogba wide right instead... I don't think Rangnick has dropped McT yet unless its been forced?

    Dalot
    Varane
    Maguire (id prefer Lindelof)
    Shaw (i’d prefer Telles)

    Fred
    Mctominay

    Pogba
    Bruno

    Ronaldo
    Sancho
Telles had a great game for Brazil, I thought he would get a run at LB, especially since Shaw has bee far from form.

I would feel much less confident if the away goal rule still stood. But despite that I still think it's 50/50

Do not want. We've gotten into a rythm with the midfield three, want to keep that going. I think Atleti flirted with a 5-3-2 earlier on in the season, not sure what happened to that.

It’s more about keeping a clean sheet tonight and staying in the tie. I don’t see much if any dramatics tonight.

Ralf seems to prefer using Fred further forward.
We saw that work against Leeds.

McT is a box to box player which will suit how Atletico play.
But he needs to be careful as they dive like Liverpool.
Yeah I think he’d have enough yellows to be sent off twice if that Leeds performance is repeated tonight

Only 4th season since SAF retired that we're playing in knockout stages of CL, which is as many times as we played in Europa League knockouts in the same period. We've been irrelevant in Champions League since 2011 probably so I'll enjoy just watching us again there. Good performance would make it better of course.

Could see a 2-2 draw at FT tonight. No away goals so that could open the game up.

Agreed. Great to be back playing Europes elite in knock out football.

    1-0 McTominay.

Seen a stat that we have only won 21% of games in Spain in UEFA competitions.
Also struggle in Spain and this be no different. We need to get at least a draw and I’ll be happy
Records like that are pretty meaningless. We should win but, yeah, getting out of there with a first leg draw would do fine.

I don't have BT Sport so on days like today i get a bit nostalgic about when ITV had the Champions League, but alas i'll listen on the radio tonight. Anyways it seems Atletico haven't been the same this season so can definitely be got at tonight. Hopefully Ronaldo can resume his Champions League form and get a goal tonight.

Atletico has the worst defensive record in the top half of their league apparently so I think we can get at them and come away with a 2-1 win

I really hope we get an early goal.

United always play badly when I have full stomach. But I'm absolutely starving right now. So if United can go 1-0 up early, I'll finally be able to have a snack. If we go 2-0 up, I might even have dessert.

Can't believe how bad Oblak has been this season. His save percentage is just 50,8% (literally making him the worst keeper in all top-5 leagues) and he has conceded 10,2 more goals than he should've according to xG.

De Gea drop in form level I guess from 2-3 years ago. Glad it is not just our own players doing that.

For 2 years ago I would rate Oblak as best keeper in the world and Messi as best player.

    Not anymore.

As much as I hate away goals due to the ridiculous amount of exits we’ve suffered because of them over the past 25 years, I can’t help but feel extra time and pens is going to annoy me even more.
