Made it too the lower city of Baldurs Gate, Act III now.

The amount of options possible is literally blowing my mind.

So many ways to approach the story. So many variables. Its overwhelming because you feel you're missing so much content!

Did the same. I'm finding myself picking the "good guy" options a lot more in this game compared to others because it feels like there's actual consequence to the decisions.

I'm 40 hours in, still in Act 1, still not really sure what I'm doing but I've ended up underground and just
killed Nere and his slaver buddies. Truly satisfying.

I found some instructions telling me I can use the Grymforge if I place two materials in it. Don't think I've ever seen either material. Have I missed something or is this something I should come back to do much later in the game or something?

Also, why can't Shadowheart hit a barn door?
Step 1: cast spirit guardians
Step 2: run around the battlefield fecking up dudes like it’s bumper cars

Nothing more satisfying than running around with Shadowheart and taking out like 5 squishies in one turn

But you get opportunity attacked, no?
You can always disengage. And their radius is pretty big for you not to provoke any additional opportunity attacks while moving after.

But aren’t Spirit Guardians and Disengage both actions? I only get one.

Yeah, but you keep spirit guardians for as long as you keep your concentration, which, if you're lucky, can last you all the way until the end of the battle. So just wait 1 move before moving around.

Act III is all over the place. The game just throws 100 quests in your face and they're all seemingly urgent.

Plus you should absolutely get a warning when long resting in regard progressing some quests/world event.

I still adore the game but I cant think of any other game Ive ever played where I had to google something as much as I am doing in this!

Yep, game usually makes it very clear - "tomorrow this will happen if you dont act fast". It'll be hard to miss it.

There's two quests I can think of at the top of my head that are time sensitive, both in Act 3.

Just managed to cheese a fight that was giving me a lot of trouble. Not cheating but using mechanics.

Was heavily outnumbered so killed as many as I could then used a character to escape via a door while the rest killed as many as they could take down before dying.

Trip to camp with the survivor and return to the fight after ressing the others. Did it twice on the same fight and can now progress.

Game is great but it is really buggy when played in co-op. If you want to develop the legacy characters' stories, play solo.

Started playing this over the weekend. Very different game to what I'm used to but very fun. Shit ton to learn/figure out and seems like it's very easy to make dumb decisions to miss out on stuff. But I guess it's better to make decisions just on gut? Leveling up seems also like there's a ton going on and I know nothing. Same with the many different spells and characters to learn. Pretty overwhelming to be honest.

Also started with a dwarf/barbarian type and realized quickly that I'm horrible at the close combat/melee types so made a new character who is a wood elf/ranger focused on archery and stealth and it's been much smoother.

Going through an evil run now. Recruited Minthara. Boned Minthara as a female Drow.

Whoever designed/directed that sex scene really went HAM didnt they?

Havent had softcore porn in my games since The Witcher 2 & 3.

I had loads of issues with that fight, as I had the temerity to go and rest between areas. Had to do a ton of strategic loading after that. Probably most annoying 'bug' I had in the game.

Can't be all that far from the end now. Have found a spot that can be farmed for unlimited gold so just chilling out and doing that for now. Am about 5k xp away from level 12 so that's the next target.

Just finished my second playthrough.
Dominated the brain at the end and betrayed the emperor.

Not sure I’ll do a third. I did find lots I missed first time round on this playthrough but I don’t think there’s enough for me to do it a third time. Plan was to do fully evil and killing everything in sight as an insane monk but I’d probably have to do it on easy mode cause I’m only really interested in where that takes the story.

It's a lengthy learning curve but luckily you can get through most of the beginning without understanding much.

Don't worry about missing out on stuff - this really is the first game I've played where it makes more sense to actually treat it as an organic adventure and forget about min/maxing the content you see. No matter which road you choose it'll spiral off into a wacky adventure.

It might be the best damn game I’ve ever played. Certainly up there. Can’t remember another game where I’ve wanted to do a second playthrough so quickly after finishing it. The only thing stopping me is I don’t have the time to get addicted to it again.

I'm just at Moonrise towers now on my second playthrough, this time as Durge murder everything character.

Think Ill wait till the new year for 3rd playthrough, as supposedly Larian will be adding more "content", to the base game, what with voice actors confirming they're back recording.

Act III needs some fixing. Endings need more. Too aburpt for such an absorbing game.

Although they do have to deal with loads of variations, still.

They pretty much completely revamped the comparatively disappointing third act of Divinity 2 for the Definitive Edition. I don’t think they need to go that far here but they’ll definitely improve it and make the endings better.

It won like 6 awards at the Golden Joysticks the other day. Deservedly.

I’ve done two completed runs (a “chaotic good” sort of half orc, and a tactician embrace the dark urge). I have started a third, as a Duergar Monk resisting the urge.

Anyone who hasn’t played Dark Urge I strongly recommend it - it adds a lot more context and backstory for Tav and really makes you feel like a fully fleshed out character. For me it feels like the default option now, with Vanilla Tav only if you particularly want a different RP for your background.

Anyone tried ps5 since the latest patch? Apparently it's destroyed act 3.
Hopefully not, I've started Act 3 in the last few days. Played a bit yesterday, didn't have issues except for facial textures not always loading (which has been present throughout the game for me)

Just finished. Enjoyed it and will do another play through over Christmas.

I chose to see the Gale ending but will replay the final fight properly from the save during the week.

Top tip if you are on the PC you can used the middle scroll button to speed up the credits a bit - I got fed up when someone was thanking their dogs and cats.

Played a bit tonight and it was largely fine. I had started act 3 already.

Not played it much in the last few weeks really but enjoyed it tonight. Investigating a murder and some traps for refugees. Going to try to finish this before Christmas now I think.

For people who have finished, how long is act 3?

Yeah, I'd say about the same size as Act 1. It feels a bit off to begin with because it's in the main city of Baldur's Gate and the pacing feels very immediate, but there's a lot crammed in there.

Started it and i'm about 14 hours in and Wow! it really is something special. First five or six hours were fun but very frustrating with the game having just so much to learn and not really having a great tutorial to explain everything. Now i'm a lot more comfortable but even now i'm still adjusting to stuff.

Astarion is a brilliant character btw:

fecker sucked my blood dry in camp and I ended up dying. Seems to have a problem with the word 'stop!' . Still kept him in the party though :D

Real big update, apparently includes epilogue stuff:
Edit: Epilogue is very cute. Definitely what should’ve been in the original game — me and Shadowheart telling the rest of the group we’ve retired to live our bucolic lifestyle with hundreds of cats.
