Bellamy's interview.. wtf was that all about?

There was nothing remotely "astonishing" or "savage" about what Bellamy said.

If he had punched Terry and then pissed all over him as he was lying on the ground....then it would be astonishing and savage.

And merited.

Sounds more like John Terry on your average Saturday night.

I think battering is an exaggeration..it clearly wasn't that violent or significant or they wouldn't have played together and joked about it the next week against Barca (if you batter someone about the head with a golf club they're rarely fit to play a football match ..let alone completely un scared by it)...And I'd say option a) carrying on a affair whilst married with twins, with the recent ex and current mother of your best mates child is worse than temporarily being hot headed and rather lightly hitting someone with a golf club whilst wound up

Plus he does lots of selfless work for charity ...he's clearly a nicer person than Terry regardless of his often stupid anger problems really. When you watch interviews with some of these people we assume are cnuts it's fairly easy to see how decent some of them really are in actual life....Drogba for example came across brilliantly in an interview I watched on italian TV before the CL final, where he praised us and several adversaries as well as being very humble so it doesn't surprise me at all to find out he has a Foundation too...John Terry Charity search results on the other hand comes up with one article about a visit he paid to Cancer research on behalf of the England Team for the Bobby More Foundation...the most basic of basic deeds the England captain should expect to do.

But to be really honest, none of us know either of these people well enough to make a proper judgement. Terry just seems like far more of a selfish, idiotic twat

Sanctimonious rubbish!

Bellamy is somehow worthy of redemption yet Terry is just plain selfish and a twat?

Er...yes.. On all the available evidence. Though I don't know either men so I don't care.

Except when he's also racially abusing people in the street/beating up team mates/ calling Rio fecking shite etc

It would appear people have selective amnesia...but it's OK they are "genuinely honest" reactions.

Bellamy makes Bowyer appear like Gandhi and Mandela rolled into one

He voluntarily went to the police and denied any racism - no evidence except going on word

The golf club thing can't have been at all serious or it would have been...well serious. You can't beat someone up with a golf club without them being seriously hurt

How is calling Rio shit on a par with the other two, or anything...is it a crime?...Everyone's probably called everyone shit at one time or another..

He's not a saint no, but he seems like a genuinely more decent person than Terry....but once again, I don't know the men, so I'm speculating...and so are you

Didn't bellend put out a cigar in someones eye? Yea he's a really decent bloke mockers!

Basically, Bellamy's a bit of a prick, but has a good sense of homour. Probably great to be around if you're mates with him, but you wouldnt want to piss him off.

Fair to say?

Barton...I'm not saying he's man of the year, I don't know him. He just comes across far better in the outside world than he does on the football pitch in my, subjective opinion.

I think he comes across well in interviews. As does Barton.

He, like Barton, imo, are two alright guys with have some real anger management issues.

The interview with Tony Adams was actually excellent and it opened me personally to giving Barton a fair go again. Before that i thought he was vile vile vile.

Bellamy does seem a bit of a dick, but in a sort of "he's my mate he's a bit of a twat" where you love him really but you still know he's an arse. He doesnt know when to shut up, he just says what he thinks and to be fair he seems to care, he lets his emotions boil over a lot making him say and do stupid things.

Barton...

Get your facts right eh...:smirk:

I like Bellamy, a passionate feisty character on the pitch, tells it like it is which is why people may think hes a cnut, but he is a good bloke

Do more interviews craig....

Heh, Bellamy must be delighted that he's finally been outcunted in the eyes of football fans.

I'm not sure what's worse though, trying to break your teammate's leg with a golf club or fecking your ex-teammate's ex-girlfriend.

The pain and damage of a leg will last for a year, but the pain of broken trust and the mother of your child having an affair with your best friend will last forever...

Yeah, I'd go with that. I was amazed how much I liked him in the interviews, I'd always just dismissed him as a prick. Now I have him down as amusing and very likeable in interviews.

Still a prick on the field, might well be privately and there are a huge number of footballers who would be better role models, but there are definitely good parts to him as well, which was something I didn't expect
