To the left, to the right,
His debut's against the shite,
He'll get one, maybe more,
But Robbie Keane still won't have scoredddd.

Was just reading back thro the climax moments. It started on page 447 but because the caf was running at 1% efficiency a page goes by before you can re-enter so it took till page 451 before folks started catching on.....and then you couldn't reply....and if you could another page had gone by. Some on later pages than 451 still didn't know. :)

I posted the Daily Mail article on page 447 and then immediately tried to post the beerbs pic which appeared on page 451 !
The Mail article was definitive with no "sources close to" or a "friend of" or "we have heard that" . It was definitive with all the correct details which didn't come out officially till over an hour later.

Dimitar Berbatov forced our hand, says Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy claimed yesterday that he had no choice but to sell Dimitar Berbatov to Manchester United on transfer deadline day – but repeated his objections to the brazen manner in which the Bulgarian was approached.

Plenty to ponder: new Manchester United signing Dimitar Berbatov Photo: EPA

While Tottenham had been desperate to keep Berbatov, his position at White Hart Lane became untenable when manager Juande Ramos admitted the 27-year-old had "psychological issues" and that his transfer machinations were distracting the team.
Levy regarded this, plus Ramos's decision to drop Berbatov from the Tottenham squad for two Premier League games, as the point of no return.
It was a bitter pill, just a month after Robbie Keane, Berbatov's strike partner, left for Liverpool, but the chairman said: "The decisions we took to allow the transfers of Berbatov and Keane were made after close discussions with the coaches.
"Juande was clear – and I believe correct – in not wishing to embrace any player within the dressing room that had no desire to play for the badge of this club and for his team-mates. Under these circumstances we had no option but to sell these players."
Levy again called upon the Premier League to reconsider their policing of transfers, despite his agreement not to pursue a complaint against United for what Spurs believed was an 'illegal' approach for Berbatov.
"There are no guarantees in football and this summer we've had to deal with the unexpected challenge of both our leading goalscorers making it clear they wished to leave the club," Levy said. "These events were further evidence of the need to review the system."

Why did they even sell Keane? Berba was always going to leave, and for a big sum too. If Keane's transfer request had been turned down i don't think he would have caused as much fuss as Berba did. He would have gladly continued playing for Spurs.
