So i just stole this from this tweet here:

Thought it would be an interesting discussion to have. Kante for Leicester is a popular one. I think the fee was something like £5-6m, which is insane.

Mane to Liverpool also one that appeared a few times.

I'm sure there's many, many more. Would also be interested to see how many United players you could make an argument for during that time period.

Aguero or David Silva. Both are the heart of City along with Kompany. In terms of Aguero the consistency of his goals from season to season is absolute insane and David Silva is just a genius. Said it before in many threads but the reason United were so successful is because they had players like Scholes/Giggs/Ferdinand that hung around for ages and were the anchor of the squad while other players came and left. Thats what Aguero and Silva are to City. Not home grown but club legends.

Kante an arguable outsider as he has been crucial to two different teams in their title winning seasons.

Aguero for me. He's consistently scored goals for City and as a result has been influential in each of their four title wins. I don't think there's another player who has directly influenced where the title has gone as much as Aguero has in the last decade.

Here are his numbers in the league:

2011/12 = 34 games/23 goals
12/13 = 30 games/12 goals
13/14 = 23 games/17 goals
14/15 = 33 games/26 goals
15/16 = 30 games/24 goals
16/17 = 31 games/20 goals
17/18 = 25 games/21 goals
18/19 = 33 games/21 goals
19/20 (so far) = 8 games/8 goals

He has a total of 241 goals in 348 appearances for City.

Yeah i would agree with the Aguero shouts here. £35m they bought him for which considering what he's done for them is an absolute steal. Always wondered how much they could get for him now. One of the best (maybe the best) strikers in the world.

Unsurprisingly, there's a few City players. David Silva, of corse. De Bruyne, as well.

Gary Cahill for Chelsea was a magnificent buy in the "under the radar" category.

£7 million from Bolton and within 3 years he had won the League, League cup, FA Cup, Europa League and Champions League.

Aguero in terms of overall contribution across the decade.

Kante in terms of hidden value relative to impact.

Aguero certainly wins this one. Other than the ones already brought up, I think Son to Spurs for 22m deserves to be mentioned.

Two strands to this:

- Getting incredible value
- Buying big and it working a dream

In terms of pure business, Coutinho to Liverpool for £8m (i think it was) and then selling him for £140m was pretty extraordinary.
