Brazil have been named hosts of the 2027 Women's World Cup after beating a joint bid by the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany (BNG).

They became the first nation to be handed the rights by an open vote, with member associations voting 119 to 78 in favour of Brazil at Fifa's congress in Bangkok on Friday.

It will be the first time a Women's World Cup has been hosted by a South American country.

Welcome to Manchester reception committee
It's great news for women's football in South America and fitting that it's taking place in Brazil.

I admit personally I'm a bit sad that it's not in Europe but that's just me imagining my grand tour of the venues + of course it means some kickoff teams won't suit me. But still, I admit in the big picture of encouraging the growth of the game - it's a good move.

Ye it's the obvious choice really - South America were due since it's already been in Europe, North America, Asia and Oceania.

Maybe Morocco will go for the next one to complete the world tour - although I note that they were supposed to host WAFCON '24 but it's more or less been cancelled or postponed at least
