Bruno Fernandes Out? | Staying at Man United

I would worry going into next season without Bruno tbh.

He might be worth 100M euros this summer but it's not like he is going to be worth zero on the transfer market next summer, less of course, but he will hold his value, and next season or the season after United might be in a better place.

After finishing 15th you don't make the team worse by selling the best player.

This kind of bid isn’t the going rate for 31 year olds and there’s no guarantee Saudi will remain interested next year

Selling Bruno also doesn’t necessarily translate into “making the team worse”. It’s a considerable amount of money in and wages off the book that could enable us into becoming a stronger, better, more rounded team rather than a skewed one that relies heavily on him/one player

Napoli sold Kvaratskhelia and moved Osimhen on - yet still managed to remain competitive

He is out of contract next summer

True. Carrick is probably the only truly successful CM signing in the last 30 years (since Keane)! Not sure who the second most successful would even be in that time frame. Matic? Herrera? It's a shocking record really.
It's actually mental that you're right. We got 13 ish years from Keane and scholes before Keane was replaced by Carrick, and even then scholes went on for another 7

How we had all that success during that golden period, and never really strengthened the midfield just shows you how good they were. Why fix what isn't broken? It's just amazing they did it at that level for so long.

I'd have to lean towards selling him.
Our recruitment has been shocking, but the money could go a long way to a rebuild, and honestly, we aren't going to challenge for the title next season, so 'if' we can recruit well, we'll just be in a far better position.

It's a bit like our Coutinho moment.

I also think this window already feels a bit different. Going for players who seem to be in form, and proven in the league.
I'd be sorry to see him go, but for once, maybe we just dont hold onto a player for too long, and actually try and build a side.

If the club allow the manager to call the shots instead of doing what's best for the long term, then it shows we haven't changed one bit.
In breaking news manager says he wants Bruno to stay instead of saying if a good offer comes in we will let him go .

I’d be more disappointed that Bruno has decided to go to Saudi than the fact he’s leaving us to be honest.

Good Saudi source apparently

“Bruno Fernandes is very close to moving to Al-Hilal Club”

Maybe we plan to replace his numbers with two players in Cunha and Mbuemo? Problem is we need to strengthen in addition to Bruno not without him. Means we need even more additions in attack on top of a striker imo.

Who cares aslong as they pay up. He’s only got 1 big contract left. Fair play to him.

Not everyone can win everything.

I dunno, I just feel like players are selling their soul going over there. It’s not like he’s on buttons at United or any other big club he could sign for.

He’s going to be 31 in September - I think most wouldn’t blame the guy for having his head turned by a £200m salary.

If we were fighting for the league, different story. But we’re years off that and maybe he doesn’t want a premier rival, I don’t see Real / Barca or Athletico wanting him nor would any club in Italy match his current wages.

I wouldn’t sell him. He’s a garuntee when we are in a troubling time. Probably our only world class player and we’re going to sell him just to risk it on one or two gamble players.

I can see Amorim taking the cash and buying 2 hard working centre mids with it. Were really lacking in there and Bruno isn't really a CM no matter how much we shoe horn him in there.

I don’t think he’ll go to Saudi. Just doesn’t seem like something he would do.

If he did want to he’d have my blessing. He gave his all for us. Would need to spend the money wisely though which seems so unlikely for us.

I'll be sad to see him go but we need the money and could potentially offset losing him if we invest wisely.

If we get Cunha and Mbuemo over the line I'd like us to get Mateta. Imagine them 3 with Amad and a much improved Dorgu as our attack

What? Like buying another Antony? I just do not have faith in our recruitment team to spend the money wisely which will result in us being weaker than where we are currently.
It's not the same recruitment team that bought Antony, thankfully

Why people want him sold? There is no other midfield player with his passing ability available in the market. With cunha and one new striker, I believe next season will be a very good one. Focus should be to find him a proper box to box midfield partner, not to replace him.

Swapping Bruno for Wharton... sweet lord cheesus
Would do that in a heartbeat.
Bruno doesn’t fit in this system. Looks like we are beholden to the system so turning down £80m for a 30 year old who doesn’t fit is crazy

This 100%. I don’t think financially we would be in a position to say no either.

Cash in. This time next year he’d be pushing 32 we need to take that money.

If the clubs new recruitment team can’t invest 90m well then we may as well quit now.

Selling a soon to be 31 year old for £100m isn't the worst bit of business I've ever heard of, my worry is that without him we could've gone down last year :o
