Bruno Fernandes Out?

What is this idea that a player crossing 30 will be on the decline now. His prime years are coming up.
It's also very specific to the individual player. Bruno's legs are far, far away from being gone. He's fitter than most 20 year olds in terms of stamina. His injury record is one of the best I've seen too. I can easily see him being a top player well into his 30's.

Honestly, one of the most impressive things about him is that he never seems to get tired, even while covering a lot of distance and playing basically every game. He's a machine.

31 next season if its City or Madrid they're selling him for the right fee. Problem for us is I don't trust we have a plan and worthy replacement lined up unlike those 2 clubs would.

People (and Bruno too) are seriously delusional if they think he can go somewhere to compete for big prizes. Saudi Arabia is best he can get, no top level club will want him as one of the leaders on the team.

It is like Ronaldo transfer all over again, when he seriously believed half of European elite will be scrambling to get him, only to end up in Saudi Arabia. Which back then wasn't even close to what it is now.

Not sure which one you're asking about but
he wont leave for saudi as he wants to be competing in the important leagues for important trophies, he's no merc
i wish he was so we could cash in. we're going nowhere for the next 3 years so i reckon we should build for the future. his price is at it's peak and he's 31, it's a perfect scenario to sell him

I would sell. As gifted as Bruno is, he is incredibly inconsistent and chaotic. We’ve had 5 seasons trying to build a team around him. Time for a change, for better for worse.

Martinez is broken. Deligt? maybe but i'm concerned he will be crocked as well. He's also not very vocal, seems quiet. Not casa.
As sad as this sounds, i'd probably go with Maguire

They may get past them as they are both still young. Maguire is not captain material, to be honest he needs to leave as he is not good enough.

All I’m reading here is…he’s got a good set of lungs on him and can run around a lot whilst being regularly available.

like Alan Smith really

Man if saudis are handing us a 9 figure sum then we should take it. He is the main man right now but we need to move away from individual brilliance and a more team effort. As much as Id like to surround Bruno with better players we just dont have the money....
Worked for PSG, had lots of individual brilliance in the team and tried to build round one player in Neymare then Messi and then Mbappe and it never worked out. This year they’ve built a team of players working together and it’s worked out well for them. Not saying we have a team of individual stars but they aren’t a team working in harmony.

The fee from Saudi was £80m wasn't it?

There hasn't been an offer. There was some blurry reporting about some clause in his contract, which hasn't been propped up in later reporting. So I suppose it is a negotiation.

Our new management have signed Zirkzee, Ugarte and Dorgu.

They have not earned my trust in the slightest.
They signed them without a run up. It's been stated multiple times (Inc TOTD) that a club normally starts planning for a summer transfer window the September before.

Judge them by this window. Say what you like about Cunha and Delay but they do feel like significant upgrades on what we have, at a good price, seemingly being achieved very early in the window. It feels like both are in demand. Of course I am counting chickens a little

Zirkzee 24, Ugarte 23, Dorgu 20.

3 young players in their first season in the PL, in a United team in the dumps. Surely it is too soon to write any of these 3 off. Judge them after a 2nd season, maybe 3rd for Dorgu as he is younger than Garnacho and only slightly older than Mainoo and its clear they aren't ready yet either.

It's not like we'll be good enough to win anything before his 40th birthday. May as well cash in now so we can waste it on an overhyped youngster

Sell, it is always a sell. Real has been selling older players for a good fee. Only United is dumb by not selling player when there is good offer. I will sell Bruno without hesitation and make De Ligt our new captain. I will also see if there is taker for Casemiro.

Dunno. He can be an infuriating player and too much of his energy/focus is on pointless shit like diving and incessant whinging but we'd be a Championship side without him. The numbers he put up for a side just above relegation is outrageous.

I'd say keep him. With a decent/good striker to connect with things could look rosy-er.
Who is that decent striker that is open to joining?

Well, we'd want a proven goalscorer. Someone who has done it in the PL before. Ideally someone who has played with Bruno before, maybe someone Portuguese so they'd have good chemistry with the other lads in the squad. Someone who is a bit on the older side, with their current club looking to sell. It would be great if they were world-renowned too and would shift a few shirt sales. Hmm.....

Well if you are talking PL proven then the two names which come to mind are Watkins and Mateta

Maybe, just maybe they could have not signed players they hadn't had time to consider and waited until they had before spending lots of money. Sorry if that is too wild a concept

Yeah?I mean it's quite relevant when talking about his potential decline, is it not? Just compare him with Casemiro who still has the quality but is clearly suffering from a lack of legs. Bruno has another 5 or so top level years in him judging by his current levels of stamina. He was never a player that relied on speed, so I don't see him 'declining' in terms of performance any time soon.

I agree. And apart from few exceptions, most good players thrive in their 30s. I believe Bruno will be even better as he ages as he will become more consistent and lose the silliness from parts of his game.

But I agree with the general consensus that selling him would be more valuable to the team now. But him crossing 30 should not devalue him at all. United can fetch top dollars for him.
