Bruno Fernandes Out? | Staying at Man United

He lost it 27 times and wasn't trying to create anything in plenty of those. He lost it trying a back pass to Casemiro just before the goal. He also didn't have a higher pass percentage than all of the Spurs' midfielders.
Where are you getting your stats? Genuine question as I can't find them anywhere for all players.

Are you saying that Bruno and Alan Smith are the same quality?
Not quite

I’m suggesting that being available all the time and having the ability to run (albeit slowly) for 90 mins isn’t a good barometer for being a good player.

Doesn't suit the narrative they'd already written in their mind. Damn you coming in with inconvenient things like FACTS. Just wait for the goalposts to be moved now... 'Well yeah but he didn't X', then rinse and repeat.
Don’t need to move goalposts when the ‘facts’ are incorrect

Bruno had worst pass completion of all United players 61.5%. His short passing was a truly atrocious 64.7% he misplaced 6 of 17 attempted short passes. He lost possession of ball to Spurs 27 times in one game and one of those times led to only goal.

Bentancur 88.9% and Bissouma 73.9% had much higher pass completion than Bruno and did a very good job for their team in context of this game.

Bruno was atrocious. In biggest game…You were quick to jump on fake stats. Let’s see if you apologies

(Don’t even need stats, need eyes…March April eyes will tell you Bruno was superb, don’t need stats….Wednesday and first half season eyes will tell you Bruno was poor/atrocious don’t need stats, need eyes)

Can you send us the source for these please?

Also, apologize, for what? If the stats were wrong I'll certainly admit that I was wrong.

There's no question that Bruno is still our best player but nothing lasts forever. The issue isn't so much letting him move on elsewhere it's the fact there's a paucity of genuine leaders in the squad as it is.

It puts added pressure on further recruitment not just to recruit players who will improve us but also to be instantly leaders on the pitch, which is added pressure on those trying to find their feet at the club.

I don't see Bruno as a leader at all. Being a half decent player should never be the benchmark to being a "leader"

He's a terrible captain, his constant whinging and play acting is just way over the top.

He's a talented playmaker with a ridiculously good engine on him. He's been a great player for us in spells and also had his spells of poor form.

I don't think we'd miss him at all. I think he's stayed here too long, he's been the captain of the most dire spell this club has ever had and the fanbase are completely split on him.

He probably gets hammered more than others because the expectation of someone who has his ability should be much more consistent. As a CM, bar his workrate and reliability to being fit he's had some absolute horror shows. He's not a natural CM - just a good player doing a job there, but on times when he is hammered its so deserved but a portion of our fans will always defend him "because he's our best player"

There isn't a CM in the league who loses the ball as much as him - I'd take us signing a genuine natural CM such as Ederson and taking mega money from Saudi for Bruno all day.

We can't strip him of the captaincy without there being some massive drama over it and Bruno is never going to be the captain we need.

He was awful against Spurs in the final - absolutely horrible performance

750k a week plus bonuses is an insane offer.

£80mil should be enough to find a replacement

Jim Ratcliffe has probably already accepted the offer and will be getting to Fernandes shortly to convince him to leave. So Rashford, potentially Bruno, Garnacho and maybe Mainoo out. They're really all in Amorim, it better work or the meltdown will be at unseen levels.

130m and he can go.

Bruno should take the offer, he has nothing to prove at this stage. His numbers speak for themself and it's sad that such a wonderful player couldn't be at the club during a successful period.

Club legend

Unless he doesn't fancy life in Saudi, otherwise it would be insane to turn down this offer given this is probably his last mega contract.

£80m is an excellent money to get into the coffers, Bruno is irreplaceable 1 for 1 but we have to move on from the dependency on Bruno, we will need others across the squad to step up, be it the existing/remaining post summer or newly signed.

We need at least 1 experienced striker and at least a new AM and 2 new CMs, if all of them have the necessary quality then we will be fine without Bruno.

Yeah that's insane. He probably should take that but no idea if he'll force the club to make the decision for him. I'd try to push them over 100m if possible, we need every penny.

The leadership vacuum cannot be understated. Our whole squad is basically kids right now with only De Ligt and Maz in the first XI over 25. And they signed like a year ago. Maguire, Casemiro, Mount, Dalot, Shaw, Martinez make up the rest but really slim pickings given the injury histories, player personality and so on.

It'd have to be something like Maguire (C), De Ligt (VC) but De Ligt is basically the captain at that point on matchday.

Less games next season too, it'll be like selling Coutinho or Grealish I hope

He can live in Portugal, fly to wherever and couple of times a week. Two years and the live happy ever after.

Most insane offer ever. He isn’t a commercial powerhouse like a Ronaldo or Messi who can attract global interest. He’s just a good footballer, so to get offer is silly.

But I think he turns it down. He doesn’t seem like a Saudi-compatible type of guy.

Don't want him to leave BUT if they push it up to 120m AND the club then uses that money to bring in players who have release clauses/close to end of contract, where fees can't be inflated (or as inflated) due to the windfall, then, maybe. There's an argument for trying to end reliance upon 1 (at a push 2, if you count Amad's general form this season) player in favour of a system....

think for 100 youd be crazy not to take it. Next season gonna be a rebuild, shoot for top 8 as the goal. Would be looking at earliest the following season to be competing for true top trophies at bessstttttttttttttttttttt. Be a big call to make on keeping bruno essentially the rest of his career before he could win something important here.

I can't see Bruno wanting to go Al-Hilal or anywhere else in Saudi. The way he spoke after the game seemed to me he wants to win trophies with a bit of prestige, which counts Saudi out. I can see him going Europe somewhere however for a decent fee. I won't begrudge him, he's gave his all for us and he's not winning anything here.

Have a bad feeling. Seems like a situation where Bruno would rather stay but is leaving it up to the club.

Would never sell him at this stage. Quality player and the club will struggle to find somebody of a similar quality no matter how much we get for him.

Honestly don’t think he will leave either. Doesn’t strike me as a guy that will go to Saudi at all actually.

We should sell him if the money is huge. We're fecked either way. Might as well make a clean start.

Agree with all points made.

For another club it might be a consideration, considering his age, but I don't trust us to replace him adequately at all

The links so far are Mateta (one more year), Mbuemo (2 years, but Brentford want to sell). I haven't seen any other rumors that match the description - physical, PL experience, release clause / low duration on contract.

The more I think about it, the more I feel we should accept the offer. The story was 100m transfer kitty without outgoings. With Bruno (100m) and whatever we make off of Rashford, Hojlund, Sancho and one of Garnacho / Mainoo, that's another 100m+ we could use to actually squad build.

If they can't sign 5 good players for 200m, we might as well give up on INEOS and move on with life until the club is sold to the Qataris.

Has been excellent second half of season, until it really mattered. This has generally been an issue. He’s been good player overall and one of very few that have been success since sir Alex.

Thanks and goodbye. If we can get 80-100mill rip their hands off and buy two younger athletic players.

If a £100m is on the table, we can't afford to let that pass us by.

It also strengthens our position when moving the likes of Rashford and Antony on as we won't be as desperate for the money.
