Yeah, Premier League proven does matter nowadays imo. We forget how competitive this league is. We've signed a lot of players in recent years who looked fantastic in their own league but then got here and had an obvious failing. Depay is the prime example. Looked so fast and explosive in the Netherlands but couldn't get past a full back here. It's hard to judge players in other leagues when you can't be sure what the baseline is.
Again this logic doesn't hold up, unless you expect qualifications for every description that doesn't involve minutia.
PL proven means proven able to cope and thrive with the rigours of the premier league. It's a handy way to summarise a player that's proven able to handle some of the more unique challenges the league provides.
Sometimes that requires clarification or being more specific, and your question in bold would be an excellent follow up question to the original statement.
I do understand your frustration, phrases can be picked up and thrown around without any deeper thought and lose all meaning, but your hostility to the phrase, to the point of disregarding any post that contains it without asking for clarification, is a bit over the top.

Yes, Mbuemo is actually someone who qualifies for the phrase Premier League proven because he has proven to be good over multiple seasons.
Too many people throw it around about a player that simply existed in the PL for a while without being notably shite or someone that has had a decent season at most.

Wouldn't surprise me. He is the kind of signing I could imagine Fergie making, along with Cunha.
Fergie loved to have a multitude of exciting and ruthless attacking options. Problem is nowadays PL teams are so rich you need to effectively buy the Mbuemo's before they get to Brentford, etc.
Yeah the key is scouting them early which both Brentford and Brighton are very effective at doing. Apparently Sky are saying we want to sign Delap, Cunha and this guy or Semenyo. Mind you just noticed that the latter plays on the left not right.

I really think this guy explodes with whoever his next team is. Feels like one of those players that people try to find reasons not to sign (bald tax maybe?), but he simply creates and scores with very good technique year after year in average Brentford teams.
The way Amorim eulogised about Mount last night indicates that he’s the archetype of a no 10 in his system.

He is so limited from a technical perspective. No truly top team will touch him. So obviously, we'd be interested and at top dollar too.
Given we have Mount, Amad. Zirkzee, Bruno, and likely Cunha I don’t personally think so just based upon numbers - irrespective of whether he’s a good fit or not.
I like him, but don’t think he’s one we will go for.
Maybe we go for a Dibling/Mastantuono who can be phased in a bit, only concern is if we don’t sign a proven striker then puts so much goal scoring pressure on a Delap. That's the main reason I would like to see us go for this guy.
Based on Amorim’s post match conference it sounded like he ideally wants a left footer in the right 10 slot so I’d be surprised if we signed two right footers in Cunha and Mbuemo.

I like Mbuemo a lot as a footballer, but if you give me the choice between him and Cunha, I would take Cunha. I just think he has that X factor that few other players have. I wouldn't complain about either however. Whichever one it is, I would say they are going to be signed to start as the left sided 10, with Mount and Garnacho providing rotation options and competition for places.
Candily, if Mount had a better fitness record, I would say the position was his. But after the last two years he has had, we can't go into any season relying on him staying fit. It's something we can review in 12 months time, if he has a largely injury free season. Because in terms of pure suitability and skillset, there are actually very few players in the world who are better suited to Amorim's system as a 10, than Mount. But the poor guy has had a torrid 2 years since he joined, and we really need proof of concept at this point, that he can still remain fit over an extended period of time. It's romantic notion to think he is like a new signing, but it would be ignoring history to bank on his fitness in the short term.

He can also play CF, which would be a bonus as I don't see us signing 2 strikers.

Well Ornstein apparently mentioned Dibling, could understand going for him IF we could sign proven striker. The only problem with that is both options look to be off the table for different reasons.

Looking at his heat map for this season, he plays where Amad excels.
Competition for places is fine, but 50-60M? is a lot to pay for an option/backup for the RW.

No point if it's not Osimhen/Gyokeres, we don't seem to have any interest in likes of Ekitike/Sesko unfortunately. The other name was Watkins if Rashford was going to Villa but that looks unlikely too
I like Mbeumo but I don't think we should get both Cunha and him. We should spend the money elsewhere.
Only if the striker is Gyokeres, let's face it we aren't paying the money for a Sesko/Ekitike. Unless you meant spend the money on a top midfielder. I just think his output takes so much pressure off a striker with potential, so that's why we should try and sign both. He also has the capability to play through the middle if required.
Top striker or central midfielder or young, talented players on that position like Yoro. We don't have the money to sign all of them. We also need a new GK.
We wont get both, so between him and Cunha, i d take Cunha
