I like this but feel that we lack pace and are reliant on Sanchez upping his game to previous levels. If he doesn't then that left side is a gaping mess.

Good squad, but I would take a different aproach.

Attack: In one year, Sanchez, William and Mata would be 30+ and we would be without Martial. So, we would start thinking on buying at least 3 new wingers (another 200m) in 2 years.
That's why I would prefer to sign a young and talented winger such as Dembele/Pulisic/Coman/Bailey/... Also, I would keep Martial in order to have Dembele, Martial, Chong as our wingers in 2/3 years. But for now, Sanchez, Martial, Dembele and Mata would be ideal imo.

Midfield: Our midfielders are not creative enough, that's one of the problems we have. My top signing would be a CAM, someone like Eriksen, Fekir, Draxler, etc. I would add a young midfielder to rotate with Matic... someone like Neves could be good. We can use our midfielders depending on different games and situations. Savic is great but similar to Pogba and Herrera/Pereira could do Fred's job.

Defense: All the players you mentioned (Sandro, Alderweireld and Meunier) would improve quite a bit our defense. But I would go for Tierney instead of Sandro, not only because he is 7 years younger, the main reason is that I was more impressed with Tierney this season than Sandro. Alderweireld would be ideal, I hope we can sign him... My only concern about him is his past injuries, but I'm optimistic and I think he would bring the experience we need at the back.

IMO Tottenham would not sell us Eriksen, and Fekir seems to be linked with Liverpool, so I would go for Draxler who has been really good in a midfield of 3, he can also play LW in case Mourinho sells Martial and Sanchez needs to rest. Also, he can play as No.10 if we play 4231. On the other hand, Neves is a player who is realistic and could cover Matic and rotate with our midfielders. Maybe someone like Jorginho would be better, but he is a player for the first 11.
If Barcelona put Dembele on the market to get Griezmann, we should go for him.

So, in 3 years we won't be looking to spend 300m+ on replacements for Sanchez, Mata, Martial, William, Sandro, Matic, Herrera, etc. We would have invested (similar to City) in quality and young players such as Dembele, Draxler, Neves and Tierney.

I very much agree with your investment reasoning. The Problem with buying young and developing them is that Mourinhos attacking style is to a large extent based on on the spot initiativ from the players. Meaning that his approach is dependent on having older experienced players that knows what to do, without tactical instructions from the manager. Thus young inexperiences players + Mourinhos style of football = Complete mismatch. And allways buying players in their prime is an extremely expensive approach and not sustainable in the long term even with our revenue.

Aside from this i would do much the same as you(but this will be pointless with Mourinhos approach to attacking instruction or lack thereof):
Attack: Mata must go. When we are not in possesion he serves no function. He is to slow and weak to press and mark players. And will not become faster as the time pass. Eventhough we never should have signed Sanchez, we have and there is no chance he is leaving(££££). We should invest in two attacking players, with RW Dybala the marquee signing of the summer. Dependent on budget and price we should also go for Leon Bailey as he can play efficiently on both sides. After reading how Dembele handled the transfer from BVB, i would not sign him. So having 1. Lukaku, Martial, Dybala and 2. Rashford, Sanchez(for now) and Lingard is more than enough for the 3 forward position.

Midfield: Carrick and Fellaini are/will be gone. Investing in another starting attacking minded midfielder besides Pogba, would not balance our midfield. What we need is a agile box to box midfielder able to perform in both ends and cover the distance. Jean M. Serri, Fred and Wylan Cyprien are all three good options. Personally i would prefer Seri due to his movement, decisions around the box and the fact that he is extremely fun to watch. Cyprien would be cheaper and alongside Marcos Lemina would be perfect as rotation for Matic and players for the future. Of the two, Lemina bosses the midfield physically and technically in some matches for Southampton, but might be to expensive as a back up player. If we get decent money for Herrera we should definitively reinvest this in Lemina. McTominay should be sold/loaned out(Don't have any qualities and only plays because height, nationality and Mourinho can say he give youngsters the chance. He is 21 not 18. ). So next seasons midfield would be 1. Pogba, Matic, Seri and 2. Pereira, Herrera, and Cyprien/Lemina.

Defense: Tierney would also be my prefered LB, but if we can get Sandro while getting rid of Darmian i would be equally satisfied. With Mitchel Weiser having signed for Leverkusen, Mounier is a good choice. I fear that Tuchel would like to keep him because of Alves age. For CB Alderweireld seems the most likely, but as you state with age and recent injury, £50-£60 seems a little expensive. We could also go for Koulibaly, as he is also a calm ballplaying CB, but younger. Both would partner great with the unpredicatable but entertaining Bailly. Blind, Shaw, Darmian, Rojo, and ideally Valencia, Smalling and Jones should leave. But it is very unlikely this will happen. Either way having these defendes for next season would be more than enough: 1. Bailly, Alderweireld/Koulibaly, Mounier, Tierney and 2. Tanuzebe, Smalling, TFM, and Soung/Shaw.

Darmian (£15m)
Blind (£10m)
Martial (Loan or buyback sale)

Total = £40m

In:
Sandro or another LB (£35)
A RB - hopefully Jose scouts a better one than someone like Meunier (£35m)
Mahrez (£60m) but more realistically Willian (£35m)
A midfielder like Savic or someone decent (£60m)

Total = £190m with Mahrez or £165m with Willian. Really wouldn't say no to both Mahrez and Willian and shipping another of Rashford / Lingard out.

Full squad (24 players): De Gea, Romero, Pereira, Alex Sandro, Shaw, Bailly, Smalling, Rojo, Lindelof, Fosu-Mensah, Young, Valencia, Matic, Fred, Pogba, Herrera, Pereira, McTominay, Mata, Alexis, Martial, Lingard, Rashford, Lukaku.

Key points: Available right backs now do not seem that impressive, and Mourinho usually likes one RB to stay back anyway. Hence, I think Young and Valencia can rotate for one more season, with Fosu-Mensah gaining experience in minor games.

I feel that A Pereira has a chance to make it under Mourinho because he seems the determined sort who wants to fight for his career and do what he thinks is best for his career. Such strong mentality just has to be tweaked to add in loyalty to Mourinho / making the right noises and I think he can somehow convince Mourinho of his worth.

Doubting that we will go ahead to make massive changes to the squad - we need players to step up and Mourinho to make some tactical tweaks, not major turnover that leads to another season of "rebuilding".

I really hope Mourinho takes the chance over the World Cup period to reach out to Martial and Shaw (since they are twiddling thumbs) and motivate them for next season.

It is rather distressing that even with all those changes there are still some redundant players or players I would not have in the first team let alone the squad. 1 or 2 were even here when SAF was. Just goes to show how much dross we still had leftover.

OUT:

Fellaini - Free to AC Milan hopefully.
Darmian - Taken around the back and shot.
Blind - Everyone just ignore him first day of training in July til he goes away.
Smalling - He's crap most of the time and his voice sounds like someone is pinching his nose. Sell to Everton for like 15m or something.
Jones - Basically the boulder from Raiders of the Lost Ark. Get rid to West Ham/Everton/Burnley I don't know.
Shaw - Never really wanted him to leave but Mourinho's got him on suicide watch so the poor lad needs some release and happiness.
Rojo - I actually started to rate him and then he turned crap again.
Mata - Love him but he's spent, his little legs don't let him do what his brain wants.

IN:

Milinkovic-Savic - I hear he's also a bit cumbersome and lazy looking but if we're going to get rid of one giant feck might as well replace him with something similar but with better technique. An 80m upgrade.
Alex Sandro - I've never seen him play but he sounds fast and he's got a left foot and he plays on the left side so holy shit get him here.
Literally any right-back who can defend, has pace and can cross the ball.
Kroos - He won't come here but this is my f*cking team.
Willian - I'd take him, he's a right winger and we currently make a near 33 year old Ecuadorian cover the entirety of that side for 90 minutes in near 60 game seasons.
Alderweireld - A competent CB.

GKs: De Gea, Romero, Joel P

Defence: Any RB, Valencia, TFM, Alderweireld, Bailly, Lindelof, Tuanzebe, Young, Alex Sandro

Midfield: Matic, McTominay, Pogba, Savic, Kroos.

Attack: Lukaku, Lingard, Martial, Rashford, Sanchez, Willian.

This is like a Football Manager 2019 thread . How can people know how much players will be sold for. Also when does a team let 10 players leave and then sign 10 players in one season?

5 First team players they signed were Danilo, Walker, Mendy, Bernardo Silva, Ederson. Admittedly, I exaggerated a little bit but they also added Gabriel Jesus the previous January and Laporte this January.

Then they sold, released or loaned out Joe Hart, Samir Nasri, Nolito, Zabaleta, Kolarov, Clichy, Iheanacho, Willy Caballero, Bony, Fernando, Jesus Navas.

We need a clear out like that this summer with Carrick, Fellaini, Blind, Darmian, Young, Valencia, Jones etc all players we should be getting rid of to improve.

Just as well you’re not in charge. Possibly some of the worst suggested signings I have ever seen.

And quite why everyone seems to think Meunier available from PSG is beyond me.

Outs:
Darmian 10million
Fellaini preferably kicked out on his arse
Smalling 15-20 million
Jones 15 million
Rashford loan
Ins:
Koulibaly(Far better than Alderwerield) 40m
Tuanzebe promoted
Alex Sandro 45 million
Sidibe 25-30 million
Fred 35-40 million (If he pushes a move)
Fabinho 40 million
Malcolm 35-45 million

I like Savic but I think Fred is more what we need. Alex Sandro and Sidibe are a must. I dont want to see Valencias constant hesitation. Tuanzebe would be a decent cover. Koulibaly is far more physical than alderwerield and a better passer as well as a season of full football. Malcolm is a decent crosser and would be a perfect partner for sidibe. Also fits in well for Joses narrow approach with Wingers as inside midfielders.

DDG
Sidibe-Alderweireld-Bailly-Sandro
Matic
Fred-Pogba
Malcolm-Lukaku-Sanchez

Both wingers like to drift in just like this season however, we will actually have some decent fullbacks this time around. Anyway, hoping Mckenna has some influence on wing play. If so id see Martial over Sanchez.

That is the stuff of nightmares. This is your dream United lineup for next season? Mahrez playing on the wrong side, a slow Mata still shoehorned on the right, a midfield two with no creativity, both fullback positions unaddressed. You can’t be serious.
