I’d be salty to be fair. Finding out you’re sacked after winning the FA cup through your wife because Woodward is such a quilt.Had some iconic moments but it was probably the worst football I have ever seen.
Fecking Smalling and Jones just passing it to each other for 45 minutes. I would rather get waterboarded.
The transfers were beyond horrific. The amount of money he wasted was honestly impressive. You would think after buying 10 players one would work but literally all were duds.
His obsession with us is also kinda weird. Rarely sacked managers are as salty as he is. Its been years and he never misses a chance to have a go at us.

Seems like his ego won't let him admit that. Even Jose I think admited that he deserved the sack in the end, as much as he had a difficult relationship with the board over last year.LvG is one of the reasons for the big mess but I guess his ego won't accept that. His signings was the worst by any manager at this club.. Morgan, Bastian, Depay, Darmian, Rojo, Di Maria, Falcao and saying no to Kroos
can't say Ole's purchases exactly turned out brilliantly...LvG is one of the reasons for the big mess but I guess his ego won't accept that. His signings was the worst by any manager at this club.. Morgan, Bastian, Depay, Darmian, Rojo, Di Maria, Falcao and saying no to Kroos
Bruno - HUGE successcan't say Ole's purchases exactly turned out brilliantly...
2/8. Pretty poor really.Bruno - HUGE success
AWB - jury is out
Maguire - fail
Varane - success
Ronaldo - initial success but ended toxic
Sancho - jury is out
Telles - fail
VDB - fail
Not too bad by Ole
forgot that Varane was an Ole purchase, but I'd put AWB as a fail, which means four failures plus Ronaldo. Long way behind a "pass mark" if you ask meBruno - HUGE success
AWB - jury is out
Maguire - fail
Varane - success
Ronaldo - initial success but ended toxic
Sancho - jury is out
Telles - fail

How can you write that list out and think "not too bad"?Bruno - HUGE success

Sancho - jury is out
Telles - fail
VDB - fail
Not too bad by Ole
Compare to LVG - did he have 1 success? Plus AWB and Sancho could become successes. How can you write that list out and think "not too bad"?

He bought Luke Shaw, didn’t he?Compare to LVG - did he have 1 success? Plus AWB and Sancho could become successes.
Luke Shaw had his best season under Ole, Herrera under Mourinho. Not sure why LVG should get credit for them. He didn't know how to use them to start with.He bought Luke Shaw, didn’t he?
Martial, Herrera and even Blind were not bad transfers.
Bang on, when people talk about the money spent since fergie retired nearly half of it was spent by Ole in 3 years, he took the job 4 and a bit years ago, so all the players signed were within that timeframe, it's unbelievable that only 2 are still considered good enough to startNot too bad?
Ole spent roughly 450M:
19/20
Daniel James: 18M
AWB: 55M
Bruno: 63M
Maguire:87M
20/21
VdB: 39M
Diallo: 21M
Telles: 15M
Pellistri: 8.5M
21/22
Sancho: 85M
Varane: 40M
Ronaldo: 17M
and what do we have to show for that? 2 nailed starters in Bruno and Varane, 2 rotation players in Sancho and Wan Bissaka, 2 youngsters that haven't clicked yet in Amad and Pellistri and te rest are either huge failures or have been let go.
How can anyone call that not too bad is beyond me.
This is exactly the advice I'd have given if I was in LVG's position and actually cared about ETH's career.Van Gaal fecking hates us

Luke Shaw was a beast in the beginning of Van Gaal's second season. I would argue that his broken leg was the main reason that led to Van Gaal's downfall.Luke Shaw had his best season under Ole, Herrera under Mourinho. Not sure why LVG should get credit for them. Probably the only signing that he made and actually performed for him was Martial.
Agree. This is exactly the advice I'd have given if I was in LVG's position and actually cared about ETH's career.
You can't be a mess for as long as we've been at the level above manager and expect people to honestly advise managers to go there. There are certainly much easier big jobs that ETH would have likely got a shot at if he waited. Luckily for us, he didn't listen.
LVG’s signings weren’t great. But his football was horrific. Worse than Ole’s ever was.can't say Ole's purchases exactly turned out brilliantly...
Shaw had underwhelming first season under Van Gaal that led to him dropped by Blind and Herrera spent the majority of Van Gaal's 2nd season on the bench with LvG playing Rooney in midfield ahead of him. Just because both had a short period of good performance under him while the rest of their time back then was underwhelming, it doesn't mean he knew how to use them, in comparison to them having a full great season later under other managers.Luke Shaw was a beast in the beginning of Van Gaal's second season. Herrera was a part of the midfield that had a brilliant 6 game run including the win vs Liverpool. He assisted Martial to bring us to the FA cup final too.
True but he totally ballsed up the only European meeting between usStill the only manager post-Fergie to beat Liverpool in all Premiere League encounters.
4-0 mk Dons is the only one that comes to mind.On the topic of getting battered, am I right in believing that LVG is the only manager post-fergie to not get battered in a game? I'm thinking anything more than 3-0 is a pasting.
Can't remember one off the top of my head

Mainly because he’s the only manager to be in charge of United at a time when all the usual big teams were so shite that Leicester managed to win the league. On the topic of getting battered, am I right in believing that LVG is the only manager post-fergie to not get battered in a game? Hard to get battered, when you are set up for 0-0 or have such a conservative approach. That’s why apart from few exceptions we scored 0 or 0.5 goals per game under LvG.On the topic of getting battered, am I right in believing that LVG is the only manager post-fergie to not get battered in a game? Yep, and despite all the big teams being shite, he still managed to finish outside top 4.Mainly because he’s the only manager to be in charge of United at a time when all the usual big teams were so shite that Leicester managed to win the league.
Leicester did beat us 5-3, mind you.
In terms of all the underlying stats and stuff LVG was definitely the post-SAF manager who had us conceding the fewest chances generally. He also delivered what remains the best performance I can remember at Anfield. On the topic of getting battered, am I right in believing that LVG is the only manager post-fergie to not get battered in a game? As much as Ole’s transfer history was underwhelming, he didn’t negotiate the prices nor did the players have any input. That’s all down to the glorious Woodward.AWB for 50M and Sancho for 70-80M are failures.
3rd or 4th game in we got battered 4-1 by City, the Liverpool 3-0 at Old Trafford the same season could have been worse than yesterdays score as well.Hard to get battered, when you are set up for 0-0 or have such a conservative approach. That’s why apart from few exceptions we scored 0 or 0.5 goals per game under LvG.
How often did Moyes get battered (not just at United but in his entire managing career)?
only because of one of the worst referring decisions I've ever seenMainly because he’s the only manager to be in charge of United at a time when all the usual big teams were so shite that Leicester managed to win the league.
Leicester did beat us 5-3, mind you.
been saying that for ages. also, had we won that game, I think de Maria might have had a great career with us. he seemed to get the hump over it and never tried to overcome that. he had had a great game up to what I still say is one of the worst referring decisions everstill thought we were playing well until that absolute fluke game against leicester i think it was, where there shouldve been a clear foul right before they get a pen and we collapsed. From then on out seemed like he turned into a scared coach with how we set up every game.
were we also not deemed shite around that time? Perhaps even shiter than the other so-called big teams?Mainly because he’s the only manager to be in charge of United at a time when all the usual big teams were so shite that Leicester managed to win the league.
Leicester did beat us 5-3, mind you.
We weren’t deemed shite. We were shite. Near enough the same level of shiteness as those other big teams. Hence we beat them with about the same frequency that they beat us.were we also not deemed shite around that time? Perhaps even shiter than the other so-called big teams?
That's all true but I think people generally dismiss the main positive at that time (i.e not looking incompetent against the big teams) as o well, the big teams were shite then. Well feck, so were we!We weren’t deemed shite. We were shite. Near enough the same level of shiteness as those other big teams. Hence we beat them with about the same frequency that they beat us.
Although we tended to do worse than them against the really shite teams in the league, on account of our excruciating negativity. The same negativity that meant we did at least tend to avoid heavy defeats.
