Is it possible to have a bit of an explainer on this? Genuine question. Maybe it’s been answered before and you can point me to it but I don’t get why certain subjects are embargoed on the Caf when I see them discussed freely on other platforms.

As I understand it, it’s the individual posters who are in legal jeopardy if they were to libel an individual. Redcafe’s responsibility begins and ends at removing libellous content if the subject requests it and handing evidence over to police if requested.

I presume it must be more of a quality control thing than a legal thing?

Probably shouldn't be openly discussing policies like this as it could put the site admin in trouble.

Once discussion on this particular topic is flowing on the forum, you'll likely wish it wasn't. And that time seems to be coming soon enough.

It depends on what you are talking about. In some cases it's due to possible legal implications and in other cases it's due to a large part of the caf being unable to behave and adding lots of work for mods and potential mass bannings.

Why not get some more mods that actually want to mod then?

Also a great way to cull the place.

My point is that the Caf isn’t legally culpable for the what people say on the forum, libel is a civil issue between the perpetrator and the subject. It’s not the same as people posting copy righted content or dodgy porn or whatever.

I could understand it when the legal shit was going on but now it's just lazy imo.

I don't really know why you are telling me that, I gave you two reasons one of them not being a legal one.

Exactly. When there is a criminal case then it makes sense as discussion of the case can actually be a criminal offence.

Sorry second one I agree with, forgot to mention that. Apologies if my reply was not entirely aimed at your post.

I have no idea either, yet.

I for one am no way interesred in modding that conversation between some of the reprobates on here. If that's laziness then grand. Unless there are clear rules and we get to ban transgressors. But the idea of trying to reason, on this subject, no thanks.

Short answer is: it is complicated.

Slightly longer answer is: we've tried allowing it several times and each time has been a trainwreck. When the club make their announcement, discussion will be allowed but only in one megathread. We're not having it sprouting in every thread. There'll be one thread in the United forum and, if he's playing here or on loan the player performance thread will be tightly policed. Until then just have a bit of patience and respect our wishes not to allow it to be discussed until the announcement is made - which seems to be any time in the next week or so.

The cease and desist letters come to @Niall
And there has been loads of them over the years so I think it’s only fair that we respect his lead
