People talking up Jesus all game but I only saw one player out there who’s literally risen from the dead.

Quality player.

Would FdJ have been any better in this position than him?

Always rated the guy, shame we couldn't get him when he was younger. His passing ability has always been one of the best around, probably second only to KDB in the PL currently.

Such a good player and to think people thought he was coming here to warm the bench

Pogba might be physically done at this stage.
Pogba has given us similar games on multiple occasions. I prefer Eriksen because he is naturally more likely to calm things down but Pogba has done similar things for us.

It's funny how long we tried to make Pogba work playing deep. Eriksen comes in and looks a million times better and more suited to it even if he's out of position doing it than Pogba ever was. Just a more natural deep passer. Eriksen and Bruno having a great relationship between themselves already too. Good to see. We'll need to rotate him in the cup games especially, can't see him surviving if he plays in those, but what a difference he is.

Not sure if that's about passing, imo it's more spatial awareness, focus, and in general he has a beautiful mind of a midfielder. Pogba had the skills but lacked the brain. He also didn't know how to use his physicality.

Top performance again. What a signing! I thought he'd be more of a squad player or used in the smaller games

Yup for sure. Just knowing where to pass, knowing where to move, knowing when to slow down play and when to play that killer ball. Pogba looked like he was bored to play simple passes and always wanted to speed it up and play the hollywood ball. You just can't have that in deep midfield. He has the brain of a #10 essentially, whereas Eriksen is mentally so much more suited to being used deep.

Not saying he's the same level but his switch from an attacking player into a playmaker from deep reminds me of Pirlo when he changed roles and became a walking metronome in the middle of the pitch.

What we expected Mata to be all these years.
Bit harsh. Mata was quality in an attacking mid role except he got played out of position most of the time on the right wing.

Indeed, well put. I never liked him in the midfield for that reason. He didn't make us "click". Pogba had a good midfield performance when he scored or assisted, so judging by metrics used for attackers not midfielders.
Those two are nothing alike.

Matas right wing position isnt out of position though, hes played and excelled there most of his career.

Exactly right. This rubbish for years about how we were underserving pogba, eriksen comes in and just makes it look easy next to mctominay and fernandes.

Class player. Reminds me seeing Scholes out there with some of the passes and control.

It's crazy how long it took get him here or a player of his ilk.

Great comparison, to be fair Pirlo probably should have played there from the start, the jury is still out on Eriksen but he too might have been better in the deep end to begin with.

Great signing.

In addition to his passing, I'm impressed with positioning. He gets forward a fair bit, getting into dangerous areas at the right time, and yet never seems to be out of position defensively either. Credit to ETH for that as well because often the full backs cover for him when he goes forwards, and McTominay has turned into a brick wall which helps too.

You can also tell how much the team trust him, and always look to give him the ball.

There was a guy on here last week saying he was struggiling to see what Eriksen gives us. Today was another example of what he gives us. Some of his passing is superb. Decisive and penetrating. No dodling about on the ball, just getting it forward to someone in a better position.

There was never any doubt whatsoever that he would be a good signing for us. He's always been quality.
