CL Final - How far are we from reaching this level of football?

That fluke FA Cup final win really messed with poster's heads.
That cup run was really good, no need to downplay a very good achievement.
CL football is a pipedream right now, we need a summer of great recruitment to even get back into the Europa Conference places.

It was a dodgy offside away from getting dumped out by Coventry and we're fortunate City went out celebrating all week in the build up.

We're miles away now, it will be at least a couple of years of midtable dross.

You won't find many cups runs where you beat the 1st and 3rd best team in the league (both being rivals as well) en route to win but, naturally, you focus on Coventry.

Crazy that, since our last final in 2011, we've only won one knockout tie. That PSG one.

That is crazy, is that really true? Feels like youve still been in the competition most seasons since. Even in the Jose years?

We actually have a pretty shoddy European record all things considered. Even when we were on top we should have won way more than we did. Despite a few magic seasons, it's actually quite underwhelming for supposedly the biggest club in the country.

We beat Liverpool and City to win the cup, so there’s no telling how we would’ve done. The idea that Dortmund are somehow vastly better than us is absurd, in fact I’m pretty sure the side that beat City last week would’ve fared just as good or better against Madrid than Dortmund did.
We did not make it out of the fecking group

The moment we stop saying “we shouldn’t be in this position because we are Manchester United” we’d taste some success. We aren’t an elite club. We’re commercially the biggest club in the world but not in terms of performances and the quality of football. I think it would take a good decade and more for us to be competitive in the CL let alone the league.
