Definitely a better performance than last week, although his end product from in play action was still missing. In the end got an assist from the corner which was good, but his other corners were quite weak. Still hope he can show more than this at this level, but it was at least decent this time after the horror shows against Monaco.

I think so too, but around 20-30m is the going rate for average attackers these days.

He just looks so average to me.
Yeah, from the bits I've seen, it's not much of a surprise that Forest are the only other team in for him. Seems more his level.

I suppose it would stop us from having to play Elanga the minute we have one injury, but I can't say much more for the idea.

Not sure he'd make an immediate impact. The lack of depth on the right is a larger concern for me.

I remember seeing a stat wheel for him when we were linked to Antony and he was off the charts. Can't seem to find it anywhere now though unfortunately

I'd rather get Hudson Odoi permanently or Pulisic or Ziyech on loan tbh. Gakpo against Monaco just doesn't look like a player who will transition well to the prem, at least not on the wing. Slower/heavier/worse technique version of Rashford.

We probably have a plan with / without Antony

Im guessing we’ll have an more expensive option lined up with that bid rejected since the alternative is so much cheaper

Not excited about this signing. It’s got to be Antony for me! We desperately need a left footed right sided winger.

2 of those are injury prone and third won’t be allowed to leave for us

Bit disappointed simply because I want us to sign a dedicated RW, not someone who might be able to play there a little bit

Saw him the other night against Rangers. Thought he did OK, some nice touches, got the better of Tavernier a few times and he's no mug. Hugged the line.
No idea whether he is the kind of quality we're after though.

Changed my mind on him. ETH recommendation let’s hope the scouts win this one.

Who wouldn't be allowed vs who is injury prone? They would be rotation with Sancho and Rashford. Not playing every game.
Hudson and pulsic injury prone
Ziyech, their owner doesn’t want to leave to a potential rival

Course they are, the mugs have come knocking.

Can someone who watches Eredevisie convince me. Gakpo is a decent player? I've watched the Monaco and Rangers game and he looks bang ordinary.
Apparently Monaco is a one off and he showed up in all of PSVs big games last year bar Leicester.
Seems we all focused on Monaco and that first impression stuck even if it was unfair

I watched him against Monaco in the second leg and he looked like the most passive version of Martial, just waiting for the ball at feet to try stuff. He missed almost everything he tried but I ended up more worried about the concept of his game, I don't know if that's what he does normally.

I've seen the comparisons with Memphis but when we signed him he scored 23 goals in the Eredivisie and he was 20 or 21 years old. His movement off the ball was very good both in terms of quantity and timing and he lasted two months here before being sidelined by his own mentor.

He was probably too childish and distracted but he clearly suffered the jump from the Netherlands to the PL. He did fine against humble teams in the EL and the CL qualifying round against the belgians, but he didn't have the answers against decent PL opposition.

Gakpo is 23 years old and just scored 12 league goals last season, and previously 7 or less. I'm not in a position to judge him deeply but the first impression I got and his numbers in a humble league (compared to the PL standard) are not the most encouraging.

That said, it could be the case of a player doing more each season, so ETH wants to get him before he scores 18 and there's more clubs trying to sign him. Even then there would be big a risk involved.

I think there's alot of potential to unlock here but he has to be developed in a more central striking role imo. He has good touch and technique along with having the physical and athletic capabilities to be a very dangerous centre forward who will help us become a more fluid attacking unit after a settling in period.

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.

Totally agree. He’s very good with his back to goal and turning. There is no chance it’s Antony or Gakpo in my opinion - I think we’re after both with Ronaldo leaving.

Bit harsh to judge him on the qualifiers I think as he’s probably got his head turned by the transfer speculation

Not that it is an excuse or it means he won’t be average. But I still wouldn’t judge him on them alone
