Just remembered Paralympics starts soon too. That'll keep my occupied some more!
Phenomenal show from London. Team GB athletes, organisers and the spectators gave as good as it gets. Those of us not fortunate enough to be at the events in person the advent of HD broadcasting really made the games special.
There's a level for everyone though, at 22 you will have no problem finding a sport that you can be passionate about and try and succeed in.
I play football for my local team in the second division of the league and all I've ever dreamed is of winning either this or the top division or the main cup competition, it's nearly all my mates talk about when we get together. In the grand scheme of things it's nothing but we'll be talking about sport for long enough so we may aswell take advantage of our young, able bodies while we can.

Had low expectations leading up to it, expectations of national humiliation even.
That only served to make the last 17 days even more incredible. Danny Boyle set the scene and mood brilliantly and that feeling never let up all the way through to today. There are so many people to appreciate and be proud of, so many achievements to be in awe of.
If I were a kid, I know what my ambition would be now, what I'd be going out to do tomorrow morning. The only downside is, it's highly unlikely any of us will ever get to see the Olympics take place on these 'isles of wonder' again.
This was Britain's moment to shine in the 21st century and it (to use the current parlance) fecking smashed it.

I never understood the miserable doom and gloom buggers with only negative things to say about the games and I'm chuffed the games huge success is one in the eye for them.
It's been a truly magical spectacle with SO many memorable performances and I'm sorry it's over....I've watched sports I've never seen before and from the first minute to the last I've got massive enjoyment from it!
Everyone involved from the competitors, those responsible for getting the games on to the 70,000 volunteers deserve a massive round of applause.

I have a nephew whos is being talked up as being an olympian in BMX when he grows up. So much so they'e offered to train my brother for free, for him to be an official trainer and teach kids so he can help over see my nephews development and take up a career in it (Which the idea of my chain smoking brother training anyone makes me laugh). I'm chuffed to bits for him and the change in attitude. Years ago I did wrestling (freestyle) and it was such a shut door for everyone that they didn't nurture or develop talent but instead were just a closed in group of mates that took precedent. None of the lads I and many other kids like me were sacrificed for to compete or train at the time made it to the Olympics. One lad I was with won three local tournaments and defeated their chosen one everytime. He was never picked for trials or training.

He did that with the zip line thing, only increased his popularity from what i could gather.

BBC's coverage has been simply excellent. Enjoyed the pundits too. Hope they keep hold of Thorpe and Johnson.
Is any other country lucky enough to have a dedicated channel for each event? Credit to them for that.

These Olympics have had a sense of great fun about them as well. It has been a festival of sports. The Glastonbury Tor in the opening ceremony was very apt.
After what we've done with the Olympics, we could make the Paralympics whatever we want. They've always been seen as a kind of encore, but one of the many legacies that London could leave is to take them to the next level. In terms of ticket sales, that's already happening.
A pity, then, that they're being shown on Channel 4. Only then will we truly understand why we pay the BBC for that TV licence. They've more than paid it off over the last fortnight.

Wasn't really bothered about the Olympics at first, now I'm going to miss it. I'll certainly keep more of an eye on athletics in the future.
Exactly, some people were just so intent on being down about it but the majority of the concerns never materialised. Transport, security, accommodating the massive influx of people, all fine.
Hats off to the volunteers, LOCOG, security services, emergency services, military brought in at last minute etc. for giving up their holidays and making it run so smoothly.
Best Olympics I've seen. Wonderful organisation and venues. London is an incomparable setting and the locals and visitors have been great throughout.

I am honestly not that arsed about it, even got rid of Sky sports. Feeling really lethargic about the football. I think it may be that Team GB's results and efforts have basically made footballers look like twats. Especially the England team. Was a little sceptical at first but have thoroughly enjoyed these games.
I agree. I'm sure by next week I'll be back into it, but it does leave a bit of a bitter taste when you've got some of these amazing athletes' stories next to a headline about footballers rejecting £100,000+ contracts a week.

Brilliant Olympics as said puts the moaning we did about it and cost into perspective. Team GB did very well too and Mo Farah was the daddy, very exciting stuff. That Hull boxer Campbell beating the Irish guy in the final for gold was another highlight.

BBC are good for everything, athletics, wimbledon, snooker, football, the lot. Red button is ace with them. Shame they can't have it all and tell Sky to do one, they could money wise but its about covering all areas I guess. Everyone should get to see sport like we've just seen, forever.

It's been amazing nobody puts on a show like the British, I know this slighlty off topic but how good it has been just makes me think even more how England was just easily the perfect place to host the 2018 World Cup.

There's been a great buzz around London and it's been much more memorable than I ever thought it would be.
I also don't think I've watched a single channel other than BBC and the 24 Olympic channels for the last 2 weeks.

Fantastic games, only a very small amount of hiccups. The crowds were great too according to every Hungarian athlete.
I'm in a genuine post Olympics depression today, all I can think about! Never been so bothered about anything ending in my life that didn't directly involve me. Now I just wish I had volunteered or something to be more of a part of it!
I just wish they'd had more stuff up north. I got to see Brazil in the footy, but would've been up for some velodrome or swimming or something like that, too.
Well as we have held the world championships in cycling at the velodrome in manchester and constantly hold events there throughout the year where you'd have been able to see HOY and Pendleton your wish was already granted.
