Are people genuinely suggesting that United should have played
"equal strength teams in each" just so other clubs didn't get a bit sad about it?
Why stop there? Maybe we should introduce a rule that if you play an opponent who has had fewer days rest, then you must run 20 laps around the pitch before the match begins to balance it up. Maybe if the other team has injuries, you have to cripple that amount of players in your own team so the other doesn't get an advantage. Or maybe if you buy players worth hundreds of millions, you should also have to give the equal amount to other teams in the league so you don't have an unfair advantage (and maybe Chelsea fans shouldn't talk about disrespecting the integrity of the league, while splashing around their dirty Russian Oligarch cash). What about teams that lose because they've had a player unfairly sent off (with a red card later rescinded) - do we go back and replay the game or retroactively award them points?
There are so many imbalances and injustices already in the league. Man United playing an understrength squad out of necessity barely registers.
As a Leicester fan, I really really really hope you beat Liverpool. Mainly for the obvious reason. But also, seeing all the complaints and outrage would be delicious
