Coventry City vs Manchester United | FA Cup SF Build-up Thread

Erik should give the Worcester City manager from 2014 a call as we beat them in FA Cup

They won it that year didn't they? Beat a decent Spurs team in the final.

they did, also beat Leeds in the semi. To be honest their name seemed to be on it early on for some reason. Gutting though, especially as we’d beaten City in the round before.

Coventry have already annoyed me twice this week.
Firstly their player Milan van Ewick throwing digs at us (his comment should be plastered on that tactics board by Ten Hag)

The draw vs Manchester United is kinda alright. Against Manchester City you pretty much stand no chance. With all due respect, Manchester United is a top club but they have their games where it doesn't go well.

Secondly and perhaps worse was Tom Grennan on talksport pretending to be a Coventry fan for some inexplicable reason despite previously showing to be a United fan. Twat.

It’s always been drilled into me. I was bought a Man United babygro when I was a little baby – I was brought up with it. I’ve got a lot of Irish family and a lot of them are big United supporters. All my cousins made me watch DVDs of old United games and the matches on television. And I don’t know what it is, but I have always been drawn to the Manchester United badge. Maybe it’s the devil on it that I like!”

Just done a quick search for tickets and they're upwards of £200
The funny thing is the, City Chelsea match was starting at £70!

Us against Chelsea would be a belter final. Both teams have had their issues so it’d be a proper 50/50

Not to mention but it’s Richard Keys team.. I have to make sure I don’t watch the game on BeIN sports. I will put it on if we win

PIG was for our polish backup keeper Thomas Kuszczak who no one learn’t or could spell his second name. Basically was ‘Pole in Goal’

Interesting fact. Coventry's last season in the PL was also a season when they were relegated together with Man City

Random question and probably the wrong place to be asking but does anyone know of the best place to park round Wembley with an electric car so I can charge during the game?

Assuming I get tickets in the ballot of course!

How do I get tickets? Serious question, I’m not a season ticket holder.

I got one to the 2018 semi-final against Spurs without being a ST holder through constant checking the website, think I got it the day before the game in the end and had to collect it at Wembley. Not sure if that still happens though.

Unlikely but not impossible.

We better not lose this , I have spent the last few days going into super gloat overload to any Liverpool fans I know , it would be beyond embarrassing if we were then to be knocked out by Coventry.

Watched their QF vs Wolves and thought they were very good, played some nice stuff and scored a cracking winner. Showed some strong characher to come back from 2-1 after that quick double from Wolves. However, Wolves didn't have a full strength team our, don't think any of Neto, Cunha or Hwang playing.

Amad bagged against them last season. Unleash him again

Does it then reverse us doing them in the last min and knocking them out of the cup?

2007/08 League Cup at OT.

United line up was:

PIG
Bardsley
Evans
Pique
Simpson
Nani
Martin
O'Shea
Anderson
Eagles
Dong

2-0 loss.

Oh yeah, I remember our experimental lineups in the League Cup and sometimes even in the early FA Cup rounds back in those days.

Had very high hopes for Anderson in this game and he totally failed to deliver in his natural position as an attacking midfielder (he had good performances as a more defensive central midfielder that season though 'he shits on Fabregas').
Young Evans and young Pique in particular struggled against the hunger and physicality of Coventry's first eleven.
Sheasy in midfield was always a sight to behold :)
Eagles felt himself a little too much, a little too early and never really made it (he got the hairdryer at a pre-match meeting though, for wearing flip flops and an Alice band).
Dong Fangzhou was basically a PR stunt, never good enough to play in the PL, let alone at United, but he brought millions of Chinese supporters with him, basically before Social Media was a big thing.
I rememeber the final PL match of the 06/07 season against Chelsea when we had already won the title SAF and Jose both played the reserves and Dong got a start and we were all taking the piss :)

Hello red people, just popped in to see how over confident you all are , waiting to wipe the floor with poor little Coventry "TOWN" if anyone bothers to make a comment and I don't get back don't be offended I'm only allowed 3 posts a day being as I'm only really passing through.
Just a couple of things I want to share with you. We can play. We won't roll over. The occasion won't get to us. And if you have one of your off days (you know you have them) we could beat you.
We shouldn't of course , you have class everywhere on the field, but have one of those off days you've been prone to and you'll lose.
Just a little point about cov, we've been a city since 1345 , a meer 508 years longer than Manchester. And we were the capital city of England also in the 1300s.
Plus we are the real Sky blues not your noisy neighbours.

You’ll have a great chance as we should be without Lindelöf, Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, McTominay, Rashford, Antony and Bruno.
Only kidding, just the opinion of all the grade 1 coaches on here.

In all fairness I think it will be a hard game.
On paper it's our best draw but have been impressed with the way you've been playing in this competition.
Simms looks a handful.
I remember him from Everton and he just looked overwhelmed with playing in EPL but think he's found his feet at Coventry.
Always finds good positions in the box and with our defence, anything could happen!
Should be a good game.

Just a thought, if we make the Final, does that mean qualification for the Europa League (if its against City)

Even to City, being they'll already be in the CL?

Yes, if the FA Cup winner or League Cup winner is already qualified for Europe through their league position, the spot goes to the highest placed team in the league that isn't already qualified. Whoever loses the final gets nothing.
