He is quite shit but surely his stats in this context is all that matters? If player x is completely useless but had great performances in the World Cup, surely he is better pick than someone who is great outside the World Cup but didn’t really perform in the World Cup?
There is a reason why Lara was picked quite late in the draft

Yep, that is a genuine problem. Not sure how the footy drafts handle this though, especially when they have those Serie A Peak players like drafts.
Personally I've been poring over stats when compiling my shortlists but it's a safe assumption that a genuine GOAT with fairly average WC/ICCCT figures will draw more favourable appraisals than a nobody with those same numbers.
We should certainly keep the terms of the draft in mind when judging the sides and pledge to vote as much as humanly possible on WC/ICCCT performances only, and as you suggest coaches should hammer away at the great stats/memorable performances of all their players in their write-ups and encourage discussion, but I think we're kidding ourselves if we assume reputations outside of the draft parameters will play no role whatsoever in voting.
Then again it's my first draft so wtf do I know?

When you vote in a general election you don't put a cross in the box then write your reasons underneath!

I take the point that you have good impartial reasons for your vote but it'll be nice to have good conversations about the way we're thinking of voting rather than a load of rounds of unexplained votes. I would have thought getting into the nitty gritty of why people are voting a certain way is half the fun of the game.

The thread opening post has clear a clear message saying only Serie A performances are counted. In addition, because there is so much discussion and number of voters are significantly higher than here, the impact of scan voters is limited
That's not usually the case for the cricket drafts. Most people don't explain why they voted for one team over the other. If you go through the history of the cricket drafts, most match ups don't reach page 3, but you will see around 20-25 votes for the same.
