I suppose there’s a chance though that they come to (whatever the equivalent here would be to) an ‘out of court settlement ‘ if United offered £5m just before May to do a deal and avoid the arbitration, I can imagine Newcastle would consider it
The highest ever-paid fee for a Manager, is 15 million, Poter to Chelsea. These jokkers are asking for 20m for an exec, and are wondering if the fee is reasonable. Jesus Christ. Do take them to court, and fecking skint them. Pay them as little as possible, while ruining their public image. Not a lawyer or much of an expert but I think the valuation placed by Newcastle on his contract is madness and reeks of spite. Then also comes the issue of Ashworth being reportedly sidelined by Howe and his nephew on first team recruitment.
So we have unreasonable demands to break contract whilst not ruining his career prospects and a set of working conditions where he didn't have the freedom to contribute meaningfully hence him looking for opportunities elsewhere to further his career.
I did suspect this might go to a tribunal. The compensation and notice period suggestions both seemed excessive.

Third party arbitration is surely better for us. Based on Newcastle’s insane asking price for it, an unbiased party will see that as unreasonable and excessive and it’ll be whittled down to a certainly more sane figure, maybe even a figure that heavily favours INEOS.

Correct me if I’m wrong but arbitration is not court and Newcastle can just refuse going into talks. If this happen then Ashworth can take it to the tribunal (court) which is a lengthy process.
I suppose it might be to do with contacts, if we suddenly start contacting players/staff through known contacts of Ashworth/Berrada while they're on gardening leave, we'll probably be looking at a big court case.
Ashworths first real test. If he can weasel his way out of Newcastle using a tribunal I think that holds him in good stead when negotiating incoming player deals/contracts

Arbitration will say 6 months max I reckon. It makes no sense to restrict him working for nearly two years and that’s what they’ll say too I believe, it’s technically restriction of trade if it’s not a reasonable restriction. He’s already served 2 months it so I reckon they’ll come to an agreement before.
Each fan base is convinced the scales are on their side and they are certain to 'win' this.

Whatever decision an independent arbitrator comes to is binding. I wonder if he had an arbitration clause in his contract or if the parties voluntarily agreed to it. Either way Eddie Howe saying that they’re coping fine without him and that it’s not effecting them much has actually done a lot of damage for Newcastle in this process, the fecking idiot.
There was a report that Fergie actually made the recommendation to hire him as DOF a while back, I think it was in a ‘tell all’ piece from the Athletic.

Tonali was the Serie A poster boy. He was a mix of Gattuso and Pirlo who always acted the right way on the pitch and always said the right things off it. Tonali is not the only player who was caught with his hands in the cookie jar. Fagioli and Zaniolo were caught too. I refuse to believe that their clubs didn't know. Zaniolo was sold for a pittance to Galatasaray and Tonali's move to Newcastle was a surprise. However these things can be kept under wraps up until the police steps in. We've seen that with Toney, Trippier, Sturridge and Townsend. You can't expect a sporting director to be able to scrutinize players the same way as the police could do.

Bruno Gimaraes has a 100 mil release clause. I would get him this summer so that the meltdown reaches epic proportions.
