Darwin Núñez / signs for Liverpool

I think this is going to be 80m down the drain for Liverpool. Have you seen his first touch on the ball? It is much worse than Lukaku. He might be a goalmachine in a league like the Portuguese. But his 2nd touch will often be a tackle in PL. Often you also see players who are dominant and score many goals in the Championship, but as soon as they get into the PL, it stops. I think this pretty much will be the same story.

I was very skeptical when we were put in touch with him. So I'm just happy that Liverpool have paid such a high a price.

These situations in the video are from just one season - and in the Portguese league....

Jesus….serious Lusaka vibes. I wonder if they’ve reacted to City signing Haaland. Could be a mistake.

All this Nunez and Haaland talk is funny. I can't believe what I'm reading. Now we're supposed to be scared of bang average, limited players. Stop buying into the media hype and use your eyes.

Julian Alvarez is a striker that everyone should fear. A better and more versatile/complete player than both Nunez and Haaland.

Seems like he’ll need some coaching to work on certain aspects of his game. I don’t think Klopp signs off on these transfers unless he thinks he can make it work.

I do wonder if we’ll try and change how we play next season. We started last season playing Harvey Elliott a fair bit as a number 10/advanced 8 and we’ve got Carvalho coming in as well. Maybe we try to go to a 4-2-3-1.

Darwin Nunez came from Uruguay
English press said he had no chanceugay

100 mill down the drain
Darwin Nunez scores again!

Hopefully it'll go down as well for them as it did for us.

I remember Klopp being shocked with Pogba's price back in the day, yet he doesn't have a problem spending big again.

The fee is insane. Im sure we were interested but not for that price. We will look foolish if he ends up being world class though, but I don’t see anyone else in for him either.

Striker is very expensive in today's market and that's why Haaland is such a good deal for City no matter how much sign on fee City needed to pay. Liverpool still need to pay sign on fee and agent fee on top of transfer fee for Darwin Nunez.

It only looks foolish if you buy into social media nonsense. It's clear that currently Pool are a better proposition and also clear that 100million on a striker is too much for this summer. People who think we should just spend 300 million in one summer are very out of touch.

Haaland is a fantastic signing for City. He is world class and can become the best striker in the world. But I really think Liverpool has taken a chance with Darwin. His technique is really poor. I am sure he is going to score goals, but hardly to the extent Liverpool expect

Personally I thought the price was ridiculously high, regardless of how high Benfica rated him, yes he has scored a few goals in the Primera Liga and a couple against top teams in Europe, but the premier league is the toughest league in the world for a reason. Had the price been a lot lower €60 million for example then maybe…..maybe that could be acceptable, but €80 million plus addons taking it to €100? I mean you only have to look to Lukaku. I’m glad we haven’t pulled the trigger at that price, we are meant to be moving away from that, this price tag is reserved for universally proven players with little risk.

The press will build him up as the next R9 and how it’s shrewd business by Liverpool

You guys lost him originally for nothing spend a fortune to get him back now lost him for nothing. He will be boss in Italy like he is generally for France. Maybe issue is your club.

All transfers are a gamble but if I was a scouser, I’d be backing the deal purely because of Klopp, he’ll turn him into a top talent as he has done with most of their team. Goes to show how important manager/coach are, players are secondary.

Let's see Klopp win the league with Fulham next season if that's the case :smirk:

By the way, you have some great clips there @Raees

This one loses a bit of credibility when you go full muppet and shpw how we could play with DDG, Shaw, Varane, Bruno, Sancho and another 6 new players

Intent/direction and not necessarily next season I guess, but still :wenger:

Player quality is definitely more important than having a good manager. (Not that you don’t need both obviously.)

Liverpool getting 40 50m for Mane so actual fee is more 30 40M and they getting 8 year younger replacement. Liverpool do not mess around these days.

Well it seems to be done, he shall be named the Uruguayan andy carrol from now one.

Hopefully he'll live up to it.

Liverpool fans

Like how Andy Carroll cost -15 million.

Ruben Dias to City for £61m two years after Felix.

Luis Diaz actually also only "produced in one season", and that was the first part of the 21/22 season. The two full seasons before that he had 6 goals and 5 assists in both seasons, not exactly great stats.
He was very good though , it’s not like Diaz was playing poorly. Everyone knew how good he was he was just adding end product on a more consistent basis.

Nunez for 100M tellls me Liverpool got fleeced. Still he may do well but very overpriced

I’ve been saying this, the numbers are good but even pizzi scores 21 goals and 15 assists for Benfica. Cardozo was better etc.

His actual overall play is not that good imo.

Well no if we're doing this logic you're signing nunez for around 40 million but losing Mane on a free.

Benfica get 75M now.

then 5M after 10 games.

10M after 60 games and another 10M for individual and collective team performance.

= 100M

To me it feels like Pool needed a reaction after losing the final and City buying a strong striker.

If you believe Haaland is a limited player then I question your judgement on players. Hardest thing in football is to put the ball in the net, and he’s getting one to one goal ratio with Norway.
