Day 18: Germany vs. Algeria

Like 2 minutes wasted in 2 minutes of added time. Adds on 9 seconds.

How was that two minutes? It took Germany 30 seconds to resume play after the goal, not to mention Muller's block.

This no added time on top of injury time is really pissing me off. Every single game one team kills at least 3 quarters of it and the ref just blows up after 6 seconds or so.

Yep, can't stand it when that happens.

Nice consolation for Algeria, they deserve that. Chiles going on about France not having much to worry about. I didn't see much today from them for Germany to worry about either.

France will beat Germany. That defence...

Since Löw won´t change anything tactically, the only thing we can hope for is for Hummels to get fit. This should give us at least some stability.

My god, Chiles is fecking horrendous. He sounds like a man who has never watched a single game of football in his life, which is impressive considering he's had that job for at least five years.

Great game, Algeria played very well and will leave with their heads held high.

Germany, defensively, looked very unconvincing and I feel they could get punished against France in the next round unless they improve in that department.

Looks like a Brazil/France semi on this side of the draw. Arg/Brazil final is the dream, a loss there will make the Brazilians cry the most.

About the added time. Lets not forget that this was 15 minutes of extra time. How much time do you wanna add on? 2 minutes for 15 minutes would be like 6 minutes after 45 minutes. It's not like Germany was time wasting either. Took quick throw ins etc...only Müller's block of that goalkick was a bit cnutish, but I didn't even know it wasn't allowed to be honest.

Of course it's 2-1. And without making things ridiculous Algeria managed to play a close, cracker of a match.

Perfect result.

If Algeria could've made a a decent pass up front 2 more times they'd win. They had sooo many chances and they've screwed most of them up.

Brazil/Germany and Netherlands/Argentina with a Netherlands/Germany final.

Oh no, the obligatory Lahm interview...

Does he mention that we played like a bag of wet mice for 90 minutes? Nah... we had the better chances and were the better team, obviously.

lol Strachan pouring cold water on the anti-Germany sentiment.

Tad harsh on Schurrle. He's had a big impact on this match since he came on.

Aye, he has, but about 90% of the times he just resolved things the completely wrong way. Too selfish for my liking. I'm only fine with far far better players being selfish.

Algeria are a big physical side with heart but no quality. It took them ages to get the ball into the Germans half. Just lump it up in extra time when fatigue sets in, you are chasing a game. They hit a big cross and scored, then created a chance from the goalkeeper right at the death. Unlucky Algeria, you need more quality to beat that efficient machine.

Patrick Battiston will be watching on Friday...

Gordon Strachan talking some sense and stopping Chiles from opening his mouth about France again thank god.

But a goal was scored in that time therefore about a minute of it disappeared before they could get started again, you have to add that back on.

They were technically very good and created plenty of chances in the first 90 minutes.

Incredible to think of hire fat they have come in 4 years. Previously they couldn't bear England, and here they are drawing with Germany

Good game, Algeria played well but the Germans were as efficient ;) as ever.

Ozil has had an annoyingly good WC so far. I'm praying that he continues to be shite for Arsenal.
Sorr, but what? Özil and the 'FBs' were the worst German players. And I really can't pblame Höwedes/Mustafi due to being played out of position and being inexperienced.

Should be an Easy win for France in the 1/4 finals , you cant win a World Cup with Mertesacker Mustafi Boateng and Howedes , Why is Durm not playing anyway?
