Dangerous. I wonder if Zanetti will be played in a 352 and called as 343 winger which he's played only a handful of that 94. Drill in to game formation in same site and you get all sorts of anomalies. Some appearances, where he played as LCM and some where he doesn't feature at all. It's just nonsensical.

you can use the player in any position but lets say young Messi played as a goalkeeper at age of 19-21 but later peaked as a fullback, you can pick him for the gk spot and play him at fullback but you pick the 19-21 old Messi.

Number of appearances per season don't matter as he would be judged as a right back and not winger as per Sjor's rules.

That's precisely the reason the rule is flawed. Manager can get away with a lot of leeway with a star player like Zanetti in a match, despite not fitting the rules.

For me Zanetti is not a winger, end of. His career peak doesn't support that. Can he be a winger? Probably. But was he? Definitely not. And single digit appearances doesn't prove shit.

This is a bullshit pick imo unless you have a back 4 behind him.

Yeah, this round had become a complete farce now.

Pick a offensive player(retired) that scored less then 50/100 club goals! Find those underrated gems that contributed in other ways.
Wingers and 10s have to have less then 50 goals, all forwards less then 100 goals. Obviously there is going to be some borderline picks with wingers and side forwards, 10s and second strikers so in that case please check with the committee before picking.

How does Zanetti fit in here, in the original rules or even in the spirit of the round? I know I've been whiny about the likes of Vava and Eder, but at least this was a technicality. Zanetti pick doesn't make sense at all and is based on the rule that was introduced much later.

It's such a shame, because I absolutely loved this round and it finally was something different. I've spent a lot of time myself trying to create weird criteria for a huge board game draft and I've never thought of that and was quite envious about it.

Di livio is a clear winger mate, defensive one but he played on the right in front of a fullback for majority of his career.
Zanetti obviously isnt a winger but we allowed to pick players that can play position but maybe that isnt their natural, thus the 50 cap rule which Zanetti destroys by a double.

As for wingers, personally i count right/left midfielders as wingers so di livio is a clear winger for me. I mean if those positions are not wingers then Beckham isnt one....
