A midfield 3 of Camavinga, Bruno and McTominay/Fred could be useful. Pogba can play on the left and be rotated in midfield while he runs down his contract.

Not holding my breath on this transfer happening though.

could easily go 4132 as it puts Pogba back on that left like he was used to playing for Juve and it keeps him higher up the pitch

Has everyone lost all hope of ever offloading Jones?
He’ll be 5th or 6th choice till his contract runs out or if someone else comes in he’ll go out on loan once he gets fit and be sold for a nominal amount with us covering a chunk of his wages. Definitely a strange renewal but I guess you could look at it like he’s holding a place in the squad for Fish or Mengi or Willy K while they go out on loan and develop and he’ll go as soon as one of them is ready to step up….Maybe we actually have some kind of long term plan with these renewals… it’s not to make money on transfers anyway, that’s for sure!

He would be best playing alongside a Carrick-type anchor midfielder.

Was thinking while watching Sanches maurade through the middle for Portugal - is it me or do no top teams have midfielders who run with the ball?

Clearly it's a tactical thing. But you almost never see players carrying the ball through the middle - it's all about triangles and using the flanks to kind of shift everyone forward.

It's one of the great sites in football too, feels like it's disappearing.

This lad looks rather good at it. Hope he doens't join somewhere and have it coached out of him.

Imagine Varane at LCB. Camavinga, Pogba and Bruno in Mid. Sancho, Cavani and Mbappe up top.

I have a feeling it’ll turn out like Bellingham Haaland and Upamecano. Spotting the right players and having solid intentions to develop the player into a star but not getting the deals done because we won’t pay what it takes and we can’t instantly guarantee as much football as teams in easier leagues. I also think there was something like 20k a week in the difference between what us and Dortmund were offering Bellingham. Gotta go early and aggressive if you want to save on the giant transfer fees later on. Hopefully Murtough and Fletcher have spotted the trend and finally nip it in the bud. This lad could easily be worth double on the market in 2/3 years.

Excited about the link but this will drag on and no doubt PSG will be pulling out all the stops. Their midfield needs a boost and this lad should be just the ticket. On the other hand we have Pogba here and a team he should be able to break into. It may also be interesting that he’s switched to an English agency this year. His new agent has also already rubbished talks of the player going to Arsenal :D
Probably just me but tbh I'd like Pogba to go to PSG and Camavinga to us. Work perfectly for every parties involved imho.

Who fills Pogba's boots if that were to happen? Camavinga wouldn't come in and be a Pogba replacement from day one, so we'd be at disadvantage without a replacement for Paul.

Pogba being benched while McT or Fred start
I don't get what’s so funny about that? It happened plenty last season? Unless we go with 3 in the middle (which might happen in some games if we have better players for the formation) Pogba is going on the left as per last season or maybe if Ole starts get to grips with the concept of rotation he might rotate with Bruno @10.

Not sure if you watched the season that just finished but it happened quite regularly. It's simply incredibly difficult to fit Pogba into the same midfield as Bruno while we also have two wingers who are defensively lazy.
Seems like he wasn’t watching very closely. I think I’m probably just allergic to  at this point in time after the Rashford thread.

I don't think Pogba's boots would need to be filled that much here. And his contract has only one year left.

Camavinga in no way is and would be a Pogba replacement. He's a different type of player which would give us more balance than Pogba, especially defensively. And I don't worry much about our creativity if we sign Sancho, which already looks like a done deal.

Signing him would be brilliant but I have zero hope of it happening.

The fact that people don't think we'd lose anything selling Paul Pogba and buying a 17 year old is hilarious.
this kid has nothing to do with pogba as he wouldn't be seen as the replacement

the issue is having a 28 yr old pogba that will want a 4 yr extension at 400k p/w

Pogba barely plays in midfield for us anymore. We've found the inside left a better position for him to use his creativity and mitigate some of his negatives. Unless we sign a specialist defensive midfielder I'm not sure that changes.

If anything Sancho would be the 'replacement'. Camavinga would be a future Fred replacement.
