I would have took Robben if he lasted, no way crappy/anto were getting that pair on the flanks!
Classic Theon defensive drafting

Remember "the sieve" three-four players bang down the middle that kept picking what those at either end were clearly waiting for... All went out in the first round

Robben was a great pick Aldo, the Dutch pool isnt actually that big at all.
Thanks Theon. Also, I think based on this season's form so far he is right up there.

12 goals and 7 assists in 18 games for Bayern and 4 goals and 2 assists in 5 games for Holland.

Falcao and Suarez?

I know man, I had other more sensible options (Vidal one of them, then another) but I didn't expect Suarez to last. He's been as good as anyone this year so I couldn't pass it up!

I had the two myself in a draft in the newbies but was facing some strong midfields so had to play Suarez out left as an inside forward, opponents usually try and pick you up on it but he is more than capable, most of his attacks for Uruaguay come from wide left

They do.

Playing him from the left in a 4-3-3 isn't an issue whatsoever, I might do it myself depending on how the rest of the draft goes. Or a bit deeper behind Falcao

Ive done alot of drafts myself and have noticed voters nearly always draw concern to two man midfields, balance is key, im sure you know yourself im pretty sure youve been in a nice few yourself, if you went with a 4-5-1 with an out and out defensive mid who can come over to help your LB when needed you should be fine

I just realized - a really cool way to do this (maybe in the future) would be to hold such a draft before a tournament starts, and then do the games after - with votes on how they performed.

Thought I could nick any of Vidal, Suarez, Aguero, and Yaya Toure. Might end up with Sterling at this rate.

Nah, plenty of quality mate. None of those would last another turn, maybe Yaya although I think it's a very good pick, role and nationality considered.

Yeah. And more so on Vidal, which I was strongly tempted to pick (as you said, role and nationality considered). Although how many casual fans would rate him is a big question.

Or I can just stacking up more no. 10.

I actually noticed it was one player per nation after picking Robben when Theon pointed out that the Holland pool was thin.

Lucky sod, didn't do too badly even ignoring the rules. I did find your Bayern theme would be hard to pull off, mind ;)

Ah, bollocks. I knew Fergus would take him.

Will have to wait for crappy now chaps. We had 6 guys for picks 2-3 and they are all gone :annoyed:

I know who I would pick next but he went to bed and never got back to my couple of suggestion. They depend much on the type of player and style you like... I'm not sure yet what that is for him, and he is the Boss!

The All-time WC tourney would be right after drafting for this is over.
I like the idea but it'll be interesting to see how it works out in practice. For example, are players judged on their World Cup performances and, if so, will Scillachi curry more favour than Van Basten, Messi or Ronaldo?
