This is set to become the 5th thread I’ve ever ignored

It ends with him staying at Barcelona, in case you want to save yourself some time

Regardless of how good he is or how much ETH wants him, a player who just doesn’t want to move at all to a club/city will never work out. See Di Maria.
In this case it is even worse. He didn’t even want to move for ETH, imagine what would happen if he is still forced to join United and ETH leaves (unlikely but could always happen).
It seems that even if Barca tried to force him out, he's that settled there (or his girlfriend is), he won't move. We don't actually know what influences are at play, but i can imagine if United got took over and offered him a wage that was too good to turn down, he'd move. But we just don't know how it's all going to plan out.

Makes me wonder if its media BS about Barca having to sell, or whether they're putting out crap themselves to garner interest again

It’s not. Fact is this will never be over so long as De Jong remains on the contract that he is on. In reality, he has no business being Barcelona’s highest paid player, and he is, by some distance. Everyone else they sign, star players like Lewandowski, are all agreeing to lower wages and De Jong is there on double everyone else.

No matter how well he’s playing, if he doesn’t agree to reduce his contract this will remain a topic.
What is he on?

See now that he is on £600k a week. So probaly £300k too much. Over the length of his contract that is about £45 mill. His value, on a normal contract is probably £80-100 mill. So Barcelona could sell him for £90 mill, pay out his «surplus salary» and have £45 mill net. His book value is probably approx £30 mill, so that would give them a profit of £15 mill.

This was harder last year as his book value was higher (£40 mill-ish?) and he had a longer contract meaning they would have to pay him even more (£60 mill). In other words, selling FdJ last year and buying him out of his contract would have given Barcelona a loss in the P/L.

I bet he will leave this summer. But I also bet City and Liverpool too will be all over it.

This is the original tweet and he ends the tweet by saying the obstacle is the player wanting to continue.

Caicedo and De Jong would be some midfield additions but I’m not buying this shite after last summer. Plus the fact we’ve got a limited budget there’s no way we’re parting with serious money on 2 midfield signings when we need to go big on a striker.

Wesley Snjeider vibes, linked every summer but the player just doesn't want the move.

Just wait until we get a Goldbridge Utd Stand video in about 10 mins. Then later United View and Stretford Paddock will pick it up

File it next to the Glazers selling the club in the list of things that will never actually happen.
Well i mean the Glazers will sell... eventually. We're at the stage where they're considering considering the offers on the table.

With this transfer we're at the considering preparing a bid phase. In all fairness though, i don't think we'll go for him after last summer

I don't think a single person will be getting invested in this again.
