Are people that deluded/easily fooled that they fall for those Maguire links?
It's the perfect storm for united haters. Shite on the club and Maguire at the same time.
but can he do that in the Premier League? Pogba tried and failed, and Pogba was much stronger

massive risk.
Pogba struggled because he would look for a hollywood pass after beating his man, which would allow them to catch him up an steal it while he scanned ahead.

He would also try to hold them off with his larger frame (which usually worked) but then the 2nd man would come across and steal it.

De Jong will look to beat his man with agility and then carry the ball, laying off a more simple pass.

Pogba was just easier to press.

my memory tells me they wanted 85m Euros (£73m). Only some crazy Spanish sites ever mentioned more. so if the £69m figure is correct, we've spent weeks pissing about to save £4m. Great work!
Would you not want to save 4m? That is £4,000,000 not £4 or £40.

Anyhow, you don't know the ins and outs of said saving, you don't know the makeup of the fee, the outlay or any of the intricate details so why waste energy worrying about it and using as a way to further bash the club.... Can't we just accept the fact that United/Murtough whoever has negotiated a better price?

I don't think 4m would have been worth the trouble (manager getting frustrated and key player actively looking for an escape), I hope we saved a lot more than that.

It’s a nice role reversal that for once we seem to be the club unlocking a player who’s been misused. We’ve had years of seeing the likes of Mata or Kagawa shunted onto the wing and expected to replicate what they did before with no real plan. Or years of listening to how we only need Kante, Matuidi and the sun to be rising in the north to get the best out of Paul Pogba. Makes a nice change.

Eh? When was he ever a holding mid? He seems to thrive further up the pitch and his defensive qualities are probably his weakest.
Hes best when picking the ball up from deep and driving forward, but yes needs a 6 next to him

He probably means in terms of occupying a similar space. FDJ does like to drop into the 6 to collect the ball and then drive forward, he can't do that if Busquets is stood there

He used to play CB didn't he, or he has done before
Anyway he doesn't thrive further up the pitch, he is good there, but best starting from deeper positions.

Why do people keep comparing him to Pogba? Literally nothing alike bar both being considered very big talents.

Also, Pogba is much stronger than probably 95% of players that have ever been successful in the PL. That wasn't his issue at all. Frenkie is made for playing at the base of midfield. Pogba was stuck in there despite him being far better suited upfield.

Nope, nothing like Xabi Alonso. He's more dynamic and less calculated than the Spaniard. He's not your typical regista tempo setter, but rather someone who'll bail the team out when under press with the bursts you mentioned. These are probably his strongest asset. He's much more comparable to Verratti or Kovacic.
Cheers buddy. I long thought that someone like Verratti would be ideal for United, glad to hear Frenkie has a similar skillset

Frenkie : distinguished gentleman
Alonso : scouse bastard

No competition.
Haha bit harsh on Xabi. One of the few likeable ones!

You'd be surprised. Barca fans praise his physicality as the best of the bunch.
That's because they have been the most vertically challenged top team around for decades, so much so that they go to Camp Nou with binoculars.

It wouldn't have made a difference considering the player is on holiday until the July and even ETH has literally only just arrived back... It's all getting blown out of proportion by a fanbase which likes to tantrum.

We're going to look really stupid if he turns out to be another Anderson!
Where are these ridiculous comparisons coming from? Anderson joined us aged 17. De Jong is a senior international and one of the Netherland's most influential players. He has a substantial track record of excellence.

Did you question how stupid Liverpool would look signing Virgil Van Dijk if he turned out to be another Djimi Traore.

We will probably play Frenkie as the left or central midfielder in a three man midfield.

He‘ll drop deep to help build up play and carry the ball forward when possible.

The other midfielders will complement defensive duties (Fred or McTominay) and creative impulses (Bruno/VdB).

Frenkie will be the deepest midfielder overall, but when he goes forward someone will cover. This is how it was at Ajax.

Are you saying the fanbase, the online portion especially, doesn't like to throw hissy fits at the slightest negative bit of news?
No Im saying that has nothing to do with

a. Reported manager frustration
b. Key player potentially looking for an escape

Where is the reported manager frustration I have missed it?

As for Ronaldo, couldn't care less if he leaves... If he and anybody doesn't wanna be here then off they go. Never was overly enthralled about having him back anyway.

I guess you have
Whether you like Ronaldo or not. We cant go into the season with Martial as the only striker.

Think we are paying a touch more than 68 quid fella.
Romano as well as many others are reporting £55 million (€63 million) base fee with £13 million (€15 million) in add ons so £68 million as a maximum fee which is around €78 million, Barca wanted €85 million (£73 million) plus add ons at the start so we’ve managed to bring them £18 million (€20 million) down by the looks of it which could be the difference between a couple more signings coming in or not.

Arguments that this signing will work out compared to the others? Need positive posts.

Anyway Im excited to see FDJ at United, hopefully Eriksen too, we have been starved of midfield talent for too long.

De Jong does well against the press. Pogba doesn't. Only time Pogba is at peak form is when he has someone carry the water. Kante, Matic, various DM types at Juventus.
