Simon Stone always comes in with the two footed crunching tackles in these transfers right at the last moments.

This is done.
This is peak Simon Stone. Confirm that the clubs have agreed a fee, but then word it like the deal could collapse quicker than a blackhole

If that truly is the fee, the we have to concede that that is some damn good negotiation by Utd

I can’t wait for the usual hullabaloo to happen when transfers are at this stage. Simon Stone will post a fence sitting tweet. Shrager will say it’s not done yet despite earlier reports. Howard Nurse will post ’Frenkie de Jong then’ etc
Like clockwork :wenger:

Barca looking to replace DeJong with Carlos Soler from Valencia for €25m. Why did we go after him for that price? He’s a full international and good enough for Barca he’s good enough for us. The sort of signing City would make as they don’t get blinded by media hype which our board do. The media dictate who we sign because there’s nobody at the club to do it. The DeJong saga has gone on for too long. If we get him, and it been close for two weeks, we get an overpriced player that does want to be at the club. He can’t possible give 100% however professional he is.Another shitshow transfer windows.

£56m plus add ons to take it to a maximum of £73m.

That's a really good piece of business.

Not sure what the "significant issues" are if the fee is agreed. If it's at that stage and the club have told Simon the fee is agreed then they are very confident of wrapping it up.
I'd presume personal terms, he could be asking for an astronomical wage considering what he's currently on.

Why do we even negotiate?

In all seriousness, this will be reported as £85m by a lot of people due to their inability to differentiate between pounds and euros

You lot don’t half drag transfers out. Take a leaf from the neighbours and do it stealth.
It's more the fact nobody cares about the neighbours, hence why there is no noise. United are still press money makers.

What is he currently on? Barca really screw themselves over with the wages they pay.

Requested by Ten Hag and marked as vital to his system/playstylye that's is all we need to know. Forget the hype, the price and all the other shit, the manager was promised backing, so he gets his man.

Perhaps, Barcelona is owing him wage. They don't want to pay him off now, so require financing the payment. My educated guess from the rumor about their wage debt to a host of players. Or a classic Simon Stones. Who knows?

Some people are just dedicated to turn everything into a negative.. Their comfort zone is to be upset, to know better, and to nag and whine..

You my good sir, fit into this category flawlessly!

You wouldn't get this far without agreeing that first.
You'd think so but if the fee is agreed I can't see what else would be considered a "significant" stumbling block.

Somewhere between of 300k - 400k a week, every source seems to say something different.

Usually I would agree. But ETH knows what he needs and there is little risk signing a player he knows well. Goodness knows we could do with players who already understand what the new coach wants rather than having to teach it. This is a foundational piece of the puzzle. Everything fits after that.

This is done and dusted. No way we agree a fee without knowing what the player wants already.

No doubt some background paperwork needs filling out, a work permit etc. It's safe to say he's ours lads.

They will absolutely owe him money. They owe Messi and Pique over €100 Million I think.

Definitely its all about the price.

His market value was 90 mill euro back 2019. Barcelona paid 86 mill euro.

Due to https://www.transfermarkt.com/frenkie-de-jong/profil/spieler/326330

His market value has felt a lot. From 90 mill euro to 60 mill euro. Reason why his MV has felt so much?
Because he has been as good and not as good as expected. And because of Barcelona as a team were doing poor, compare to winning the league and in Europe. Poor Barcelona collective and he hasn't the best out of him at Barcelona. His market value has felt to 60 mill.
1/3 and over 30 % of market value has felt.

So to come to conclusion of his fair transfer fee for both parts is :

60 -70 mill Euro with add ons. If De Jong is helping United to win the league for champion league.

I think Barcelona shall be satsify of max 70 mill euro. Even of course they want as much as possible. But if you have drove a car for over 3 years and your car have felt a lot in market value. Barca can't expect the price up to 80 mill euro. Max 70 mill euro is a fair price for both parts.

I think you’re right:

- Barca have a strong recent history of saving money on shrewd buys
- Any player at Barca is good enough for us. Why don’t we buy all their unuswd reserves instead?
- Ten Hag clearly prefer De Jong due to media hype. What other reason could there be?
- The rumours saying De Jong doesn’t want to be at the club must be right and the rumours saying he does want to be at the club must be wrong. Because … well, whatever.
- No player bought after the 27th of July have ever improved a club. This is self-evident, facts need not come into it.
- City would never, ever spend £100m on Grealish on the 6th of August. No. Way.

Or you’re just offside again.

Weird that to a man they seem to miss that the “desperate” ones here are Barça, moreso
than United, it’s like they’ve head their collective heads in the sand for the past 18 months.
But then “levers”…
TBH I pity them a bit. Imagine if our best and most 'loyal' player bankrupted us because he kept asking for silly pay rises to remain 'loyal'. They even bought his pitiful farewell (cries and all) despite the fact that he wanted to leave them just a year before.
