The poster said Carrick was one of the best midfielders of his generation…he wasn’t.
true. Carrick was a weird one though. There aren't many players blessed with his passing range who also had his size and his positioning sense. That allowed him to be an effective DM something better players like Scholes and Pirlo couldn't do.

Did you watch Essien play? Ridiculous response, take off your red glasses, Essien was immense, fecking top quality player I would have taken at any time. I'd kill for an Essien in our team now.
Ridiculous opinion more like.

His peak at top club football lasted two and a half years, third year at Chelsea the injuries started to kick in, then the rest of his career from there was pretty meh and absolutely injury ravaged where he managed to play 15 league games or more in just two seasons.
A huge shame after the great promise he showed in those first two Chelsea seasons in a team brimming with confidence.

The story of his career was great promise at Lyon, a brilliant 2.5 years at Chelsea, and then injury after injury after injury.
He won a grand total of 2 Premier Leagues, the second he managed just 14 fecking appearances so we’re being generous there, in reality he was an important player in just 1 single top league title during his entire career.
Carrick was an important player for 5 league titles and one CL win.
Essien’s only CL final appearance was against Carrick, but not really, as by that point he was at fecking right back on occasion, that night spent getting bullied by Ronaldo, so far had his career already fell. The next final he was involved in a squad he didn’t even come off the bench, despite the game going to 120 minutes.

I used to think that Florentino Perez was the biggest cnut in Spanish football. Keep talking about other club players and try to sign them cheap.

But Laporta is something else. Refused to pay salary owe to a player that in the first place help Barca by accepting deferred salary. Trying to force the player out of the club but play Mr. Nice guy in the media. Consistent lie through his teeth. And having binge eating disorder.
I'm always amused at how Barca seem to have a new president every 25 minutes! Candidates make stupider promises than Boris Johnson

Let's see if he gets on tour with them, if he does then let's see if his camp compromise on his wages and so on, I hope everything turns out right for our sakes because we really need a player of his quality in our team.
So is he on the big money now as I thought his new deal kicked in at the start of the month or is he still on the reduced amount?

Possible Barca transfers:

Kessie
Christensen
Pablo Torre
Dembele
Raphinha
Lewandowski
Kounde
Bernardo Silva

Barca director: "To comply with La Liga, players have to be sold"
Laporta: "We ain't selling anyone"

selling off the club revenue making assets for short term sugar hits. Also, as their director mentions in the Romano tweet, they have to force out the players they know have long term salaries due after they took wage reductions. Long term, I doubt Barca exist in the structure they do now, either the government will eventually come in and the club will be gutted or it will be completely sold for peanuts to an authoritarian/hedge fund and the badge will be the only representation left.

It's a weird one. Logic suggests they have to sell him even if it means caving in and paying him his deferred salary. Logic suggests he would leave in that situation. But none of us is expert enough to know that for sure. They seem to be playing chicken with each other so it could just end in a huge car crash.
I think the real question is do they even have the money to pay him and continue to register the players they have targeted. If they want him gone then they had to know they had to pay him unless they were somehow hoping he would write off the 17mil they are due him because Mes Un Cnuts.

Who even really knows if that is the hold up, maybe they are willing to pay that but simply Frenkie doesn’t want to go but they need the transfer money to reinvest it in the squad and had decided that he was the most valuable asset that was expendable.

If this shithouse of a club had to tell Messi to leave, they'll have no issue doing the same with FDJ.
FDJ joins Man United, there's no doubt about that but the circus that is Barcelona will keep playing this game.

Barca are like the mate you lent £100 to for his gas and electric, who still hasn’t paid you back, but rocks up in a new Golf wearing new Armani gear and flights to Ibiza that you’re not invited on.

The situation is slightly different here. They didn't owe Messi a payout & he was out of contract. Here, they are trying to push a contracted player who they owe money out of the club. The player obviously feels disappointed that he helped out the club at the time of financial trouble but the club now refuses to pay him what's due.

 ...So who are they selling?

Christensen, Kessié, Raphinia, Lewandowski, Silva and Koundé

Are they playing FM on steroids?

I thought they need to reduce their wage bill significantly. This looks quite the opposite to me whether FdJ stays or leaves doesn't change that much.

Massive increase of their wage bill is coming.

Please tell me how do you know if he is speaking to him regularly or are you hacking his voicemail?
It’s what’s been reported. Up to you what you pick and choose to believe. The muppets certainly do.

Yes plus it looks like Xavi actually will be using Busquets, Kessie, Pedri, Gabi, Gonzalez, Pjanic he’s not going to play they have 6 players for 3 spaces already and he’s probably on as much if they give him his contracted wage as all the midfield players combined apart from Busquets. They need him off the wage bill

While you aren’t replying go back and watch some clips of Carrick to remind yourself how great he actually was. Sounds like you need to :)
Because he wasn’t great when I watched him week in week out. He played in a great side. But can we just leave it there.

Every player still seems to want to be at Barcelona

But it seems a weird career move if they’re so poorly run and can’t register you

Wont they need to sell more than just FDJ to register these players?

I’d absolutely have Carrick in that list of players. He was a wonderful player. Wasn’t always appreciated by everyone at Utd though so not surprised you don’t rate him as much.
Carrick wasn't flashy but he was our metronome, he initiated our attacks. He made very few errors, the team was built around him in a way.
People who under rate him don't understand his role in our system at the time.

Now, surely all these Barca transfer announcements must mean something is happening with De Jong.

This is what I don’t understand. Surely seeing the treatment of current players with deferred wages and selling their future revenue It’s clear Barcelona are going to have cash flow issue far worse then they’re having now.

All the deferred salaries are going to damage the club and if I was a player/agent I wouldn’t risk not getting paid.

wish we could poll this, but FDJ in the tour team or not? What you folks reckon will happen today with their announcement? And if he's not, how fast do we think this moves?

Personally, I think he's going on the tour, and i'm slowly accepting this is going very close to deadline day.

Guess Barcelona still have the appeal.

Same like girls who like bad boys who are handsome but with no money ?

Can someone in the know answer cause I'm confused. If barca stump up and pay him 17m in wages, doesn't that count towards wages paid to a player for the financial year and will hinder them with fair play rules anyway?

The financials will definitely not have it listed as wages. It’ll be listed as a one off expense.
