No, but its a shame I can't even claim you're nothing but midtable mediocrity. Simply because you're not even that at the moment. :p

Dumpstar, I'm willing to make a bet with you. I say United will finish above Liverpool by the end of the season.

We are still playing better football than you are at the moment. We just can't score whereas you score even when you are shit - well except for Torres who likes to miss chances

if not for styles, we'd be sitting top now, with a game in hand. Still annoys me.

Everyone, particularly top teams, gets easy decisions in their favour every so often. And Gerrard still had to pull out a top drawer free kick to score. Chelsea got the weakest penalty you will ever see and then The Rob Styles Show kicked off. Don't think they're really comparable.

At any rate, it's not a question of fairness. I am just a tad annoyed still.

Dumpstar, we posted tables well into the season and when we were first, not after 3 games.

Retard.
I'm sorry, my postman didn't drop that official guideline in my postbox.

My bad.

Oh, lighten up 29 million dollar man. I'm only playing with the situation. A bit of relief after the grief of the league table you gave us all of last season. :)

Liverpool chases Manchester United
Posted Fri May 9, 2003 11:55am AEST

Liverpool are "two to three years" behind English premier league champions Manchester United in setting a benchmark for success, according to manager Gerard Houllier.

The Anfield side topped the table in November before their worst run of results for 50 years saw them drop out of the title race in the second half of the season.

Now Liverpool must win at Chelsea on Sunday to claim fourth spot and the final Champions League place.

"If you ask me how far are we from Manchester United, I would say we are probably two or three years behind them, that's all," Houllier told reporters on Thursday.

"(But) we will just keep going. We are young with an average of 25."

"They are a good side, that's why I think winning the (League) Cup against them should be enhanced."

Houllier said United's 2-1 victory at Anfield at the start of December, helped by a terrible blunder from goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek, proved the turning point in the season for both clubs.

But he added: "There are many games where we have made some stupid errors that have cost us points. The points have slipped mainly because of that."

"That's why you have got to be more consistent. Look at this season. We have probably lost 10-12 points we could easily have won and then we would we have been in competition for the title race."

Although Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry has promised money will be available to spend on new players for next season, Houllier said transfer business had been put to one side for now.

"I can tell you that I haven't met anybody or been in touch with anybody," he said.

---------
Some of you will just never learn. Replace Houllier with the fat spaniard, and this piece will be ready for publication later on in the season.

It's quite a feeling actually looking up to our rivals... Remind me when was the last time this happened?

Glad United can have a rest mid-week, hope you have fun qualifying for the champions league proper..

Three or four years ago, I might have been worried about such a poor start to the season - we had a poor team then, with most of the weight being pulled by seniors. But it doesn't really bother me now. We might not win the league this year, but we're certainly building an excellent team and we'll be there or there abouts for many years to come.

You might be above us in the league right now, but we're still by far the better team. And you know it :D

(oh, we're also champions)

Yes

Have to win against the top sides now
there is a very real danger you could find yourselves in the position we were in last year, all but out of it by sepember. i think you lot will win tomorrow, but you have a few tough games coming up that i dont think you will win, against Everton and Chelsea, and if us, Chelsea and Arsenal keep winning, then you could find yourselves too farbehind all 3 and make catching all 3 pretty unlikely.
