Amazing the speed he has risen in the first team.

Good luck to him, I hope he wears the number for the next 10 years.

Its for his friend Nouri who he played with at Ajax. He had a heart attack, he was in a coma for 2 years.
Remember this. Thanks.

Because he took it as a tribute to his friend Nouri who had a heart attack and ended up with brain damage. He wore the 34 shirt at Ajax
Remember this. Thanks.
It was the number of his best pal at Ajax before he collapsed and went into a coma, hes out of the coma now but in a bad way I believe.

Have you not seen any of the talk on that during the transfer?
Remember this. Thanks.

And to answer your question, no. I work, and don't have time to sit and follow every transfer.
4, 5, 6 - then double digits.

3 is a left back. 2 is a right back.

You can argue for the sake of arguing, but it's more traditional and it looks better.
Agreed.

I have always thought of 6 as a centre backs number. With 4 being a defensive midfielder.

Thats pretty cool. Not so cool the new jerseys being out a few weeks already and no doubt a few were bought with his previous number.

I prefer 4 on a midfielder. It looked surprisingly good on Veron imo.

But I can accept 4 being on a CB so long as he plays regularly.

Hand on heart, I couldn't tell you one game Jones played last season. Or even if he did

Mason Gr33nwood will have 33 combined goals/assists coming from the bench/rotating with the front 3 next season.

Edit: Read that wrong... number 11. Okay.. mason greenwood wi11 have over 11 goals and 11 assists next season.

yeah, 4 on a midfielder just feels right. if we get a Matic replacement next season they have to get the #4

Just me who really wants the #2 taken from Lindelof and the #3 taken from Bailly?

Not suited to CBs and it hurts my eyes.

Jones having the #4 upsets me too. I want it to be given to someone who plays.
Shaw didn't want the number 3 if i remember correctly and he switched back to 23, 2 and 3 should always be of fullback. I want proper numbering for positions too

You guys do realise that they can't give Greenwood both 11 & 7, don't you?

Had they given him 7, then you'd all be posting the same thing, but saying stuff like "I wonder who will get 11"?
If he had been given 7 most people would take that to mean the Sancho deal is off. Sancho already wears 7 and its obvious he would get 7 if he were to come here.

Pogba 6
Sancho 7 YES
Martial 9
Rashford 10
Greenwood 11

Just need a worldie for no.8 now.
He's already in the house. Just need to move Mata on and Bruno gets it. Might even happen for this new season.

That's a beautiful looking bunch isn't it? Gives me goosebumps
I would say Bruno 8 .

This is a big show of faith in Greenwood and also a sign that Utd think he has potential to sell shirts.
I already bought a #26 Greenwood shirt last summer. Kid will definitely sell!

He played up front for Sheffield United against us away from home.

People really do care about shirt numbers way more then I do...

Including players to be fair.

Would be worth it just to see the meltdown.

I think i'd be bemused and annoyed for a day or two, but then I would have to just cross my fingers and hope that we could squeeze one more season of him close to his best.

We gave Rashford the 10 first chance we got so I'm choosing to believe that if the 7 wasn't already going to someone else then we would have have it to Greenwood in an instant.
Rashford waited years for that number, first Rooney then Zlatan took it and he was desperate to ask for it as soon as it became available. He idolises Rooney.

Glad to seen Mason get the number 11. A very number in the history of the team having been on the back of the most successful player ever. I hope he can do it justice. I don't think he will be another another Januzaj who didn't live up to the hype and admittedly very high standards of the previous shirt holder. As for Martial, well that coinciding with his unhappiest period at the club, and of course was a number he only got after his previous number was taken away from him.

Williams "upgrade" is a bit random and I'm not sure I would have bothered with changing numbers for what he got unless it means something to him. A nice gesture from Van de Beek in choosing his number. I'm curious what number Henderson will get.

I wonder how many people have already bought one of the new shirts for the season with 'Greenwood #26' on the back?

See Mason as a striker long-term and #11 isn't really a suitable number for that position, but it's an upgrade so hope he makes the number famous for himself.

Wanted to buy a Greenwood shirt (knockoff, mind you), but was pretty sure he will change numbers. So didn't buy that.
