Should be a decent back up to McTom so we can rest him for the Europa games.

Honestly this potential deal interests me far, far more than the Rabiot one because he's being touted as a successful player at his current club rather than a failure like Rabiot where Juventus actually want to get rid of him. Also, we're not buying from a top tier club, and that's a good thing. We should be looking for these kind of deals. I'd prefer a younger player but if this is to bolster options then yes, I'm all for it.

We've missed out on so many players, who could improve our central midfield so much... Zakaria, Kamara, Bissouma, Gravenberch, Tchouameni, Fabian Ruiz, Phillips, Kessie, Sangare, Milinkovic-Savic, Haidara, Laimer, Ruben Neves, Tielemans... just to mention the obvious ones... also missed out on many strikers, why haven't we signed Jonathan David, Scamacca, Sesko or Moussa Dembele... or a free striker like Andrea Belotti.

Having only watched his highlights I'd prefer him to Rabiot, which just feels like such a Woodward move.

Any capable DM at this point would be a great place to start.

We need midfielders so let's go

Video
Normally every player looks amazing in a highlights compilation. He looked normal in which case he must be bang average! Any Spanish punters got some feedback on this shrimp?

Seeing as we now have all that FDJ money burning a hole in our pocket, presumably we could buy this fella and Rabiot. McFred annihilated in one fell swoop

I agree. The age is fine too I think, at 28 he's in his prime and still got a good 4 years at least before he starts declining.
Perfect really, we need a ready to go DM not someone who needs to be molded in first.

Rabiot seemed planned but Guido looks like something else is going on.:)
Maybe it's a ploy from the club to get Barcelona and De Jong to hurry up.

That said, whoever we get now, if his name isn't De Jong I'd be gutted, simply because I watch us and know he'd be perfect in that deep role.

We got a snippet with Eriksen yesterday, but Frenkie is 10x more dynamic and can bypass the press like it's nothing.

As for Guido, I've never heard of him, and have no clue how he'd fare in the EPL.

exactly what’s happening. I just hope we get enough for a top 6 finish

We could've just done this when Pogba was around and solved so many problems

Brozovic wasn't signing a contract, Kessie on a free was the most obvious thing on the planet. Instead nope, Pogba got injured, we panic signed Bruno and ignored McFred for many a season after that.

Another one that could have been done weeks ago if there's any truth in it. The De Jong deal is dead.
Even if we got De Jong we still need a player like this. No idea if this guy is right, but he does fit a type of player that we need imho.

Exactly. This should form part of our transfer strategy. Get away from all the fancy signings and just get players you need who fit the criteria. I can't believe United make this so difficult for themselves. The incompetence is something else truly.

Honestly if we just want another body at the back, why not just play 3 at the back?
3 at the back with a striker to place beside Ronaldo might actually might be the best way to get the most out of this current side.

At this stage I’m just happy we’re linked with a DM. I’m comforted knowing that someone on the moronic United board understands that there are different positions and types of players that can play in midfield.

Yeah, we'd probably need a RB but that's already the case unless you're really happy with Dalot as our starting RB.

It’s good we are finally looking for a proper CDM. The question is why aren’t we ambitious enough to try looking for a better CDM?

No complications in this deal? Like mother, step mother, uncle, deferred wages? Has to be something if united is involved.

This one doesn't look interesting or exciting on the surface, but I'm sure City fans weren't excited about Fernandinho, and we all know what happened there.

Silly example, but you know what I mean. All I care about is that we are looking at a specialist DM in a position we badly need.

I don't like the Rabiot links though, I'd pay up the extra €'s and try for Tielemans instead, as it sounds like he's available this summer. Hopefully that would be the end of McFred except for Europa League.

Probably the main obstacle will be that we have only 23 days or so to complete a deal. Knowing that our "thinking of preparing to make a bid" stage usually takes about 2-3 weeks, it will be close.

Eh, we've done quick deals before, too. How long did it take for Malacia? I think the biggest obstacle for this one will be the price, if he really is the darling of the fans there.
