What's expected points?
Alternative table, basically the more you have xG and the less xGA then you will have more xPts, but, as Chelsea is 6th in that table and 12th in the actual table, it shows that their formula is flawed as they can’t take into account intangibles like a team who create loads of chances but can’t score for shit, or concedes very few chances but have a calamitous keeper who throws the ball into his own net on the regular etc… The model just assume that overtime the actual result and the performance in that table will align, and it’s generally true, but there are always a few outliers every season.
And yet 7th in actual points having lost your last two games by an aggregate score of 7 goals to 1.
