On Saturday it will be 10 years since the great day when LFC threw away the league in spectacular fashion. For those of you too young to remember, here is a timeline of one of the best things to ever happen in football.

In the 2014 season, LFC had not won the league for 24 years.

Liverpool beat City 3-2, which effectively ended City's title hopes. Anfield was ecstatic. For some reason the media loved the LFC captain Stevie G and it was widely felt he deserved to win a league title with his hometown club, sane people thought he was a tosser and basically a poor mans Roy Keane. After defeating City, he got this team into a huddle shouting "this does not f*cking slip"

Pool then had routine win against Norwich

Next up, Liverpool played Chelsea at Anfield. A victory for Pool would effectively seal the title, the league table before the match was

PlayedPoints
Liverpool3580
Chelsea3575
City3474

The usual LFC adoring media were building it up as some kind of coronation. The TV cameras paying close attention to a whose who of LFC wankers like Rush,Hansen,Dogleash etc in the directors box before kick off, all to see their beloved side claim the title.

It was a tight game, and then this happened....

Pool lost the game 2-0 and then were held 3-3 against Palace, gifting the title to Chelsea.

It was hilarious.

27th of April will always be known as Slippy G. day, make sure you congratulate any dipper fans you know, especially as their club has already celebrated with another epic collapse this season.

I am so ready for Liverpool's banter era returning. Them being quite good the last few years has been boring

Just hope United exit their banter era at the same time so it's funnier

I have no memory of us being still in the race at that point. I am getting old.

Also must be odd for Demba Ba to be remembered mostly for this.
I could have sworn that Chelsea didn't have much to play for, and that the race was down to Liverpool and City by this point, making the implosion all the funnier. I suppose they both had much better goal difference, plus City's game in hand.

It was actually City that won the title in the end. When Liverpool lost to Chelsea, they handed the initiative to City who could go equal on points, but had a far superior goal difference. So when Liverpool were playing Palace, there were talks about them having to win by 6 or 7 to close that gap and put pressure on City. When they went up 3-0 the commentators were talking about them piling on, but instead Crystal Palace got the draw, bless them.

Also 10 years to the day that my beloved car of 8 years died on my motorway. I remember getting towed home and tuning in to see Liverpool were losing 2-0.

Why not also treat yourself to the majestic Crystanbul game, including the fabulous footage of a crying cannibal?

Should always be brought up in debates over the best PL midfielder. Every other one in the debate has defining moments on the way to PL glory whereas his defining moment is gifting the title away.

I'm not sure why but I find it extra pleasing that Salah was playing for Chelsea that day.

Same here. I remember it looked like Mourinho was downplaying the importance of the game for them, playing Kalas and young Salah. Felt like they cared more about Atletico game in semis that was coming up in a few days. They lost to Atletico and Mourinho never got into semi-final of Champions League since that again.

Anyway, that slip made me feel bit better after a terrible season.

Will never forget this one. Was watching on a stream not expecting much, but chatting to a pal on facebook.

He just sent a message saying
ba baaaaaaaaaa baaaaaa baaaaaaaaaaa

Then 1min later I witnessed the absolute madness myself.

Gerrard trying to control the ball in an utterly ridiculous flashy way, instead of a simple side footer. Slipping, then haplessly not catching up a less than rapid striker.
Then spending the rest of the game selfishly shooting from 40 yards out, in one of the most self indulgent display ever seen.
Terrible corner late on and racing it in from miles out for 2-0 too. Too good.

So many other details.

Chelsea playing a strangely weakened team.
Liverpool only really needing a draw yet coming out super gung ho in an incredibly arrogant style.
Rogers whinging about Chelsea fielding a "back 6" later.

Unreal.

Much is made of the 3-3 draw v Palace, but because they'd blown it against Chelsea, they needed a huge score for goal difference. So at 3-0 had to go all out attack.

Mourinho deliberately turned up to that game looking like an unkempt savage and pretty much conceded the game beforehand, mind games...

Just checking the game, Salah was playing for us and we have Ake on the bench.

It's amazing how shit our squad is now by comparison.

Crystanbul even better when you see that weasel Suarez shushing the crowd only to be left in tears at the end. Couldn't happen to a nicer racist cannibal.

Honestly the whole thing was f*cking amazing. Gerrard crying a few weeks prior and proclaiming to the squad that they don't let it slip. Absolute cinema.

I remember watching this moment in a Weatherspoons in Carlisle full of Dipper sympathizers... couldn't help but laugh out loud as they looked on in stunned silence.

For me it's one of those shocking moments in history that you'll always remember exactly what you were doing when the news was broke to you, Princess Diana's death, the Twin Towers, Slippy G losing the title.

I remember watching the match at my ex's. They were having lunch which I had to be at. Went upstairs to secretly watch the match on my tablet pretending I had a sick stomach. I began to scream the moment Gerrard slipped, which grew louder as Ba was through on goal. They all asked what was wrong, I said very bad stomach cramps.

I know it goes without saying but the fact he said 'this does not slip the week before' is probably the most incredible moment I've ever seen in football and one of my favourite non-United moments too.

I think Crystal Palace was funnier, but yeah Gerrard slipping has to be one of the all time PL chokes.
