When your legs go, it's not just about your pace. It's stamina and your mobility. Scholes wasn't about pace at all but his went and he called it a day.

As someone who caught a number of MLS games on the telly, he is the creative and offensive force for New York, but has lost his spark. In Arsenal's quick passing system, he will be as slow as syrup.

This is more for show than success on the pitch.

Agreed. I dont think this is a great move for Arsenal. In terms of leaving a legacy, this might tarnish how Henry has been viewed before by Arsenal fans. Also, Arsenal are in a tough situation and it's a lot to rely on a player whose legs have gone.

He could do well but is this really Wenger's last resort?

Dont understand what he'l bring to the table at the top level tbh. Its not like he's anywhere close to what he was. It'l only be against the really poor teams that they could rest RVP and play henry which isnt the best way to deal with the problem. Wenger should go out and buy someone in jan. A striker to be more precise. They have shite backup for RVP, ACF or not.

Be great if it happens. If only for the head-feck it will provide for peterstorey and his repeated insistence that every ex-Arsenal player bar Fabregas was no longer Arsenal quality the moment they left the club. How many years is it since Henry left now?
The only feck wittery going on is yours if you're claiming Henry didn't decline after he left Arsenal (which was my point).

My point was more of a recurring theme about Wenger being too hasty in letting players go who still have a lot to offer as squad players. Something you've vigorously denied in the past. Henry is just one such example.

Well that's a completely different point with a completely different rationale behind it - we can't afford not to.

At first I thought this was a bad move for them, but as soon as I realised how shite Arshavin has become then atleast Henry would easily beat him to getting in the first 11.

Henry might be alot slower now but I doubt he has forgotten how to place a ball in the back of the net.

It's not a bad move for Arsenal. I don't expect him to deliver anywhere near the same level that he once did, but he'll add another option to their attack. Even if he isn't a quality striker anymore, chances are he's still better than Chamakh. I think Arsenal should try Henry up top as the main striker, with Van Persie playing in behind him in the second striker role.

I'd say it's a bad move. Look at how Fabregas blossomed when Henry's shadow was removed and look at how van Persie is now loving being the main man in a similar way.

Bring Henry in and I suspect van Persie will suffer for it.
Van Persie will suffer? Right now RVP is way better than Henry. The former will always be first choice especially in big games. Henry might start the games against lower level teams when RVP can rest.

Missed this, it's a good analysis, he certainly does lack the fluidity he used to show at Arsenal, but all players change just like Giggs. I think if he was at Arsenal for an extended period, he could actually work well with RVP.

If its just a 2 month thing he will probably be used instead of RVP and look the worse because of it.

Think this could be a good move as long as arsenal fans don't expect too much

Henry's main strength was his pace so he will be half the player

Still a better option than chamakh though

Thierry Henry is not the egocentric striker who left Arsenal behind | David Hytner | Football | The Guardian

I don't think it will suit Arsenal well putting in a slower Henry back in.

Don't get why he would want to go back. Perhaps he misses Arsenal more than he thought he did. He isn't really the solution IMO, this is just short term to keep the fans happy and sell a few shirts.

Arsene needs to invest in a quality striker up top with RVP.
Article very much backs up the points I made about his personality potentially having a negative effect on the squad. Could you really imagine this "legend" of the club just quietly sitting on the bench as a backup player?

Arsenal fans must be foaming at the mouth. Am I right in thinking he left just before they moved into the Emirates?

A lot of opinions ive heard on this seem to say it is sending the club backwards by signing Henry.

I think that is rubbish, I don't see how it is different to how we loaned Larsson, except it is even more logical to replace the loss of players to the ACN. He is a club legend and it is a temporary measure to relieve the strain of temporary absentees.

He stayed for a season at the Emirates. Why would they be fuming? They've given him ovations since he left.
Foaming, not fuming. In the sense of being excited.

I know Arsenal fans who are getting a bit excited at this news. All things considered it's a worthwhile move for them to make.

Once Gervinho leaves for the African Cup of Nations they will have a bit of a gap in attack. Just look at the alternatives and he's still a better option than Chamakh and Park. We all know Arsenal are heaviliy reliant on Van Persie's ability up front and Henry will give them a bit of extra class, for a short while at least. If he get's near goal he will still be a threat with his finishing and creativity. Some of his performances in MLS show glimpses of what he's still got.

In the Mountains of NC watching United like its my
I watched a lot of him for the Red Bulls and he looks very sluggish. Ill be interested to see how he does though. It will definitely bring some excitement to Arsenal.

Personally I would like to see Becks sign a loan deal with us but as a player coach more than a player. Hopefully he could help on crosses, freekicks and corners.

Remember Larson? I think it might be a good short-term solution for Arsenal.

the younger players will benefit from this. They will look up to him in training and learn a thing or two
