No idea at all and every decent player they bought looks like some gimp now. Diarra is just the bigger version of Jim P. And various bizarre formations... I thought that they would be boring team under Capello but at least winning 1:0 every match. But they are complete shite. Can´t be better eh? :lol:
 
But somehow they're still not far off Barca in the league.

Capello is the only one I consider to be on par with Sir Alex in football management in the last decade or two.
 
Most players that have played with Zidane, have always said he is the greatest player they have ever played with, Beckham, Raul, Henry have all said it. feckin quality player.

Zidane always tried to play beautiful, offensive football...

Real Madrid without him plays overrated crap.
 
Zidane dominated the game for a period of 5-6 years. He's a late bloomer and didn't became super before he was 24-25 years old. I saw him live first 1998 when he played for Juve. He had an oustanding first touch, good movement and could easy hit any opponent in a one-one situation.

He's only weakness was he's defensive. Zero defending.
Together with Maradona and Pele but not the best. Pelé is still numero uno. He had it all!!

I've never really rated Platini as one of the best, Zidane, Charlton, even Scholes were/are all better than him in my opinion.

Maradona was truly amazing. No player have ever dominated the game he did. He singlehanded took Argentina to two WC finals. But there are some bad moments in his carrier. Gods hand, steroider, mafia connection in Napoli.
I can live with many things but not steroids. Once a cheater you never know what is real or not. Maradona was extremly strong for his age and time. And the late 80 was a drug era.

So for me it's Pelé. He was everything. I 'm old enough to remember what my father said about him. In 1958 when Edson Aranted do Nascmento was 17 years old he dominated the final wit two goals. My father said that was once ina lifetime performance. I belive him.
 
I only saw him play twice in the flesh... 1st time I was too young to remember how he played (Anelka upstaged him at Wembley), 2nd time was when France lost to Greece in Euro 2004. Not good enough.
 
Why do we have a thread like this every month? Anyway I never really understood all the fuss was about. I rate Scholes higher.

Zidane did a couple more tricks which is why he's more popular.

Wake up, where have you been since 1994? TBH I love Scholsey to death. But Zidane was the one.
 
No comparison to Maradona. Imagine if he actually stayed off the coke.
 
Didn't really hit his peak until late on his career.

I'd say his best football was played at Madrid where he got a lot more time on the ball compared to in Italy.

I think that's a fact.

Pele played in brilliant sides. Maradona didn't. Even England would've won a world cup with him in the side. And City the league title.

Exactly! - Maradona was a one-man team.

Pele always harps on about how he could score with his head, and both his feet but Maradona couldn't....truth is, i doubt Pele could carry a team made up of average players the way Maradona did.

He's also the most fouled player in history. He'd take the piss in the current era(not like he didn't in the 80's). The game has become a non contact sport.

Pele was one of the greats, he runs Maradonna close, imo. He had everything - pace, strength, heading, touch, control, goals, assists.

Pele played in the greatest team i have ever seen, Brazil 1970, they were awesome, but he had Jairzinho, Rivelino, carlos alberto et al playing with him.

for me and what i have seen Pele is untouchable, he won the world cup for brazil in sweden in 1958 aged 17.
 
all of you are missing the main point really.

He would never have made half a million quid a week playing football.

They had Garrincha in 58. The best player in the world at that time. A cracking side, some say better than Brazil 1970. The thing about the 1970 side, was that many of the star players were nearing the end of their careers.
