How well are you handling the 'banter'/ribbing?

feck me. This is quite the thread. Almost pathetic.

I’m so past the age of letting it affect my day to the point where I need to ask myself “how it’s affecting me”

I was annoyed and upset for about a half hour after the game yesterday & today is another day.

Be like this guy & just laugh along with it and don’t let it ruin your day.
Then comes the age where you just walk past a thread like this without bothering to have your mature say. Don't worry it will come.

I don't dish it out when we're doing well or when our rivals are playing badly or have bad defeats. The simple reason is that I don't like it back.

I was talking about the game to a Liverpool supporting family member the day before and was pretty honest about how I thought they'd win on the day and how I thought the two of us would finish top 4. Didn't even bring up how pish they had been all season and how I hadn't heard a peep out of him either in text or in person.

Right at the final whistle I got a barrage of WhatsApps from him and I lost the plot a bit. Didn't properly fall out but I was pretty pissed off and had a real go at him. Another mate sent a few texts but I managed to ignore them, I was tempted to text him after the CL final last year but didn't.

When we lose like that the feeling is so raw that the red mist comes down if anyone is gloating.

Alot at work have been telling me how their back. Had to tell them they've turned that many corners this year they've gone full circle. We are likely to get third & will win 1 of Europa & FA Cup or both. Then next season when the oil money comes in they'll be back in the bin with the rest of them.
Oh they are shitting it about the oil money and along with the likes of Spurs/City/Arsenal will be determined for this not to go through

Handling it just fine. Im quite lucky that the vast majority of mates who are Liverpool fans actually have a brain in their skull. One doesn't and boy does it show with this chap.

Life has ups and downs. This is very very low indeed. But we’ll be back up sooner or later. Let them have all the glory. I would do the same too if I’m in their shoes.

The 7Up joke can be countered by the league table, we are still 7 points ahead of Liverpool. And I don't get too passionate about the football things any more, I have a life to live. And most importantly I've been enjoying the last week in Saudi Arabia on an Ummrah, so fudge the score and enjoy the 35°C heat, amazing food options and beautiful Islamic history :).

Just arrived in Liverpool. Still a complete shithole despite their greatest ever day.

I pulled a «Mourinho» on my Liverpool supporting co-worker.

«Okay, what was the score did you say? 7-0? 7 goals? 7 also means seven points above you in the table» His face fell then

I work in Abu Dhabi with a load of Egyptians - the Salah wank-a-thon is off the charts.

The other shit, like the 7 Up memes have been batted back with a casual -is that yesterdays score you're referring to, or the difference in league points between us??

I just ask the Liverpool fans where they were when Real Madrid were hammering them 2-5 at Anfield, shuts some of them up.
Yeah the game will be talked about for ever, shirts made vids sold, but to be honest finish above them, with a couple of bit of silverware, its matters less, still matters but just a bit less.

It’s been mostly me and other United fans looking at the ground and saying “no comment”

Go watch Carragher’s studio reaction to the Liverpool 2-5 Real Madrid game if you want to feel better, because they were all like that 10 days ago or so.

Its a funny old game
Luckily I don't have too many mates who are Liverpool fans but I am still keeping a low profile for a few days. (It should be the players who are in hiding) I'm gutted! We've given liverpool their greatest day ever. Their grandkids will be singing about that game! I really hope those players realise how badly they have let us down!

My dad of all people sent me a whatsapp video. Bruno Fernandes singing "Un-Break My Heart" photoshopped in front of a 7 up can.

Laughed my tits off.

I am loving the creativity of people all around the Internet, mainly on Twitter. Yeah, result was bad, but who cares, a loss is a loss either way. Prefer that to being beaten by a dumb goal in extra time, like at Emirates.

One big defeat and we're not actually that good and it's "media hype" apparently.

Must have missed us beating all the big teams at home, unlucky not to beat the Spanish leaders away, and winning a first cup in 6 years.

My general manager is a dipper. Worked from home when Madrid battered them. Was silent on WhatsApp throughout the season. He's left a 7up can on my desk this morning :|
Drop him a copy of the league table. That'll put him back in his box.

And soak it all up for when Madrid put them out.

I've had to mute and archive my football chat. Worst thing was playing 5-a-side the evening after and all the Scouse fans thought it would be funny to turn up 7 mins late to make a point.

My soon to be stepson is 10, he is a City fan (term used loosely as he's not really arsed at all about watching them when they are on). He's been giving me shit when he gets to school as I drop him off he'll say "Bye, see you later. 7-0".

This from the kid who was actively cheering when United beat Barcelona and was saying "we" and stuff.

I'll wait to get my own back on him. I foresee a two footed studs up tackle in the hallway at some point.

From where I come from, a fairly huge Indian restaurant chain was offering per pax: 7 pieces of free roti prata/ roti canai "gosong" the whole day after the game - if u show up wearing a United jersey. "Gosong" means "zero" in Malay, hahaha...

Owner is a United fan and trying to console fellow fans. Read/saw online today they really honoured their word, haha. U only need to pay for your own drinks. Created quite some buzz. Thought about going with my United mates but in the end just decided to catch up on sleep....

Just pretend this whole thing is a once-off nightmare. It helps.

I just say it was a pathetic display and they, the team, gave up after 3-0. When somebody keeps rubbing salt I say the team was rubbish on the day and from time to time it happens, just like Liverpool took 7 from a much worse team a couple of seasons ago.

My Dad once ribbed an Arsenal fan in his 50's after a defeat and the Arsenal fan apparently cried and said "would you also laugh if my Son died?"

Some people take it all way too seriously. I could give a feck if we lose the next 3 matches 7-0 in terms of my everyday happiness and commitment to United.

Do people still actually wind each other up over football results?! I haven't had to deal with that since the school playground.

It's pathetic. Get new friends if that's the only reason they ever contact you.

I actually don't mind the banter/ribbing that much. It is to be expected, and in a way I have gotten used to being bantered over the last 7-8 years.

What does bother me is the way the team capitulated. I really thought the team was better than this, in terms of mentality and quality. In no way did I expect them to fold like this.

I really don't give it a thought. I laugh about it and move on. I have a lot going on in my life to get affected by banter.

Survived my trip to Liverpool this morning relatively unscathed. Made eye contact with a couple of the staff members I'd had a laugh with (at) when we beat them at Old Trafford but nothing was said. Most of the ones I saw today we're Everton fans and there not in any position to be giving it large.

I also wrote 1 goal = 1 point in the grine on the back of the truck which didn't go unnoticed driving past Anfield on the way to the airport, couple of beeps and what I assume to be polite welcoming gestures from the natives :wenger:

For those who demand we all take this defeat like a death on the family, I don't think anyone found any enjoyment in it, but you've got to try and take it on the chin. Rest assured, football is a fickle and often very forgetful game, played in the moment. Beat them 1-0 next season with a scrappy last minute winner ala John O'Shea and you know full well we will be the ones giving it out. City smashed us 6-3 yet look at them after we beat them 2-1, Pep having a meltdown claiming to actually know where he is...

And when we next win at Anfield... The gates of banter hell will open.
