Hugo Ekitike | Chelsea, Liverpool & Arsenal linked

Spunk 60m pounds on Osimhen as a no 9.
Spunk 40m pounds on Ekitike as rotation no. 9/ play both Osimhen and Ekitike together. That will immediately bring more goals to the team with Bruno, Amad, Garnacho supplying pace, creativity and verve.

Sell Hojlund and Zirkzee back to Serie A while they still have decent value. Maybe 20m pounds each.

1. Ekitike will cost same as Osimhen
2. Both are out of our price range

Watching him against Stuttgart tonight, first time i really notice him. He looks absolute class, reminds me of Isak in Spain

Whether he can make the transition
Impossible to say how he will adapt and develop. It is not an easy step as we have seen with Rasmus.
But Hugo at least seems to have a technical ability suited to a first choice striker for Manchester United, something i don’t think Rasmus ever has shown.

Think I have been so burned by Hojlund that it's made me want to sign someone ready made

Know its easy to say in hindsight but I don't think Rasmus is nearly as talented as Ekitike. He didn't have the same youth pedigree. Wasn't a standout at Kopenhavn, went to a lesser league where he did well in limited appearances and had probably a half season in Italy where he wasn't a guaranteed starter but had plenty of highlights. Ekitike scored 10 goals in 14 games when he was 19 in a tough league and unlike Rasmus, the other facets of his play are generally excellent. I wouldn't hold the PSG spell against him at all as he scored goals when he got playing time but he was just competing with elite forwards. He has way more strings to his bow outside of just scoring too.

If that twitter report is anything to go by, I'm quite concerned. If I recall correctly it said he's not a focal point, his best attributes can go missing against better teams and he's incredibly weak.

Nice positive vibes then

It said he’s best in a countering team. He’s not as good against a low block or holding up the ball.

It also said he's not a focal point striker and is pretty weak. Major gap that (if true)

But lately he is growing into that role as Frankfurt changed from a 3412 or 442 to preferring a clear 4231. However it's still true that he doesn't beat defenders by force but by speed and agility. Probably he would have been a better fit for EtH's attempt to build a great transition team than for Amorim's current setup.

Not seen much of this guy but what I have seen left me totally underwhelmed: I think Rasmus will develop into as least as good a player. Need a proven goal-scorer (I'd take Kane if the rumours are true that he wants to come home)

He won’t come back to England yet

Only seen a few YouTube clips. Dare I say he reminds me a little of that lad at Marseille we don’t talk about. But not as two footed.

Watched him for the first time against Stuttgart last weekend.

Didnt score but lead the line quite well

Scored today. Henry vibes with the celebration in front of Spurs fans.

Interesting player, but I'd be curious as to why PSG barely gave him a kick and then binned him off for peanuts.

There are a parade of striker flops who were sold for good money after one good season in the Bundesliga as well. Frankfurt might be responsible for half of them.

It was more or less a swap deal, Kolo Muani against Ekitike and money. It didn't happen all at the same time as Ekitike wasn't convinced of that move, but he had to realize that PSG wouldn't trust him. He joined as a very young player who wasn't ready at the time to lead the line for a huge team but needed more time on the pitch to develop. Simple as that.

Honestly... just half? I have a hard time to remember striker flops from other clubs in recent years (maybe Füllkrug, but besides that I can't really think of examples).

Werner is the other example though I wouldn't call Fullkrug a flop, he's been injured most of time at West Ham and wasn't exactly scoring buckets at Dortmund.

Remember the days of Voronin at Liverpool and Pizarro at Chelsea?

Those days are the reason why I said "recent"

But Werner is a good point, I completely forgot about him.

Was thinking of the likes of Werner, Silva, Jovic, Nkunku, Kolo Muani, Kalajdzic.

But yeah, you might be right that it could be mostly a Frankfurt problem.

Silva, Jovic and Kolo Muani were from Frankfurt.
Nkunku was an AM for Leipzig, rarely a striker, so I just wouldn't count him here.
Kalajdzic... wasn't really a high profile transfer, was he? And even then he mostly had the problem that he tore his ACL.
Which leaves Werner. Who I didn't really see as a failure at Chelsea has he scored just in line with every other season of his career except one purple patch.

Not sure where he's positioned between the likes of Gyökeres, Sesko and Isak, but at least he's young.

€100m seems excessive though.

100m seems very excessive, a sign of the striker market!

Any German experts able to share their views on him?

I read he underperforms XG drastically and is a very rough diamond. To my mind that seems a crazy few things to say about a potential 100m striker?

Frankfurt finished 3rd in a lesser league, he scored 15 in 31, 8 assists. Not bad, but is a player like Delap at Ipswich much worse?

Of course people will say Ekitike has a higher ceiling or something until he comes and proves he doesn't. I don't think it would be a sensible signing for LFC anyway.

100 euro for this guy seems insane to me. When I watch him, he seems like a slightly more talented version of Jackson.

I like his attributes and I'm pretty sure he'll end up being a very good player for a top team some day, but this seems like an extremely risky transfer for that fee.

If that's the case then 100 EUR seems perfectly reasonable.
